Ford heads have traditionally had bad exhaust ports. The Windsor were too small, the Clevelands were horrible, FE not great. I think even the SOHC and boss 429s had complaints about the exhaust.
I think the 429/460s had the best exhausts.
Now with great aftermarket offerings for all of the above, especially the Windsors, there are a bunch of fast fox mustangs out there. (I remember when a 165AFR was a big head for a 302. Now look! Bigger heads available for a 302 than I used on my 406.
