Well after my break up with the long time live in girlfriend I needed some new furniture. Had one look at the garbage they try to pass off on people at local shops. I decided to build my own stuff. Here is end table I nearly finished this weekend .

That is just to kewl well dun younggun  digging the gear lamp as well you built I believe :glasses7:

Thanks guys. I will be powder coating the frame in a color called copper vein. It's a textured oil rubbed bronze color. Top will be sealed in a clear and glass will lay into top

Man, that looks awesome! I want to make something similar, but as a taller longer buffet table. How does the top fasten? Also, do you put something under the legs to keep it from scratching the floor?

Sorry about the break-up btw. That's never easy. Good luck with everything.

I still need to finish the feet. I need to weld on a flat foot portion on bottom and then I have small threaded furniture pads for bottom . The top is held on with 1/8 x 1" screws from bottom into wood slab

I think it needs to be built heavier.:coffee2:

Just kidding, very nice!

Dude! That is badass! Does the top fram just sit on the wooden slab, or does it attach somehow? Can you snap a photo or two of the bottom side?

Also, did you disassemble it for powder coat, or just have it all done together? I notice the fasteners are all powdered, so I assume it was done as an assembly

the wood slab on top is 1 3/8" thick. I welded 4 studs on the inside lip and drilled holes thru the wood slab. I counter sunk the holes on the wood slab bottom side and nuts sit flush inside the wood slab on the bottom side. The entire frame is welded together and i sand blasted it and had it powder coated as one unit. the hardware is all dummy bolts. i wanted the look of the rivets but dont have the tools to do it. so i cut the heads off carriage bolts and drilled holes thru the steel plates and plug welded from the back side.

I will get a few more pics of the attaching method tonight.

thanks man. i cant take all the credit though. i half stole the idea from a website i stumbled on. mine are a pretty close interpretation of a table that sells for over $700. I have about $60 into mine. that includes the metal and powder coating. I have a stock pile of misc. hard wood that i can pick thru and use at work so the wood was free.

Looks nice! Very industrial.

I'm working on a few pieces myself. Acrylic, stainless, aluminum and zebrano.

Same drive. New stuff is ****. I want to keep things nice and actually keep them, like our cars.

i feel bad for my family. when i kick the bucket they are gonna have a house full of heavy *** steel furniture to get rid of lol. this stuff is gonna out live me. that is for sure. here is the bed i built a while back.

That's awesome! I want to build my bedroom set someday. I like that bed, just wouldn't want to have to move it. Lol

When I opened this thread I had visions of the local furniture ad. Guy is carrying the bride across the threshold saying "We're gonna live here the rest of our lives." and the camera pans around to a ratty couch, mismatched chair and milk crate tables.

that ad is actually shot in my house. lol. when me and the ex broke up she was nice enough to file a no contact order against me and had me police escorted out of the house i legally live in and pay all the bills for. well once i was outta the way she took everything she wanted or thought i would miss. so now i am building all new stuff in the style that i like. if the next one tries to take the furniture she can have it if she can lift it. lol
