I was told that I need to have 318 brackets to use with my Shumacher mounts to bolt to my 360 R3 block. Please help !
ThanksFor a 70 duster.

Need a little more info.

What K-frame do you have ?

Not really familiar with a 360 R3 block.
Does it mount the same as a regular 360 block ?

Which schumacher mounts do you have ?

70 duster K frame , the R3 block is thicker for higher RPM, Shumacher poly loc's

Duster K frame. /6 or V8 k-frame ?
I think they are different, could be wrong.

Does the R3 block mount the same as a standard 360 block ?

This is a important question. Because if it does mount the same and you have a V8 K-frame, you will need a 318/340 mount on the right side, and a 340 mount on the left. A 318 mount will not work on the left side. Then you use any standard small block biscuits

So, to install a 360 into a 318 car you will need a 318/340 right side mount,and a 340 left side mount.

If your R3 Block mounts different than a standard 360 block,I have no idea.

My r-3 block uses a 318 driver side mount and a 340-360 pass side mount it also uses a 318-340 oil pan. all the info i recieved with the block stated to use a 360 oil pan??? I have a brand new milodon 8 quart 360 oil pan and pick up , for sale.

Thanks for baring with me. I have V8 K frame. I reused my 340 brackets with Schumacher Poly Loc biscuits on my R3 360 having to shim the drivers side bracket. I tried to drop in my R3 360 but will not sit completely onto the K frame. If I need a 318 bracket does anyone have one to sell. Any pictures of a 318 & 340 bracket side by side?

Ok, where getting close. I have done extensive research on this,to install my 360.It sounds like your 360 mounts the same as a standard 360 so.........

Right side (passenger): 318/340 mount should work,I believe they are the same. This is a picture with a 318 bracket, right side.If your 340 bracket doesnt fit,I believe I have a 318 bracket for that side. This is the easy side.

Left side (Drivers): This is the side that needs the 340 mount. A 318 mount will not fit this side,as you see in the pic. I have given you a pic of a 340 mount and a 318 mount from this side. You need the 340 mount for this side period.

On a side note: There are 2 different sets of 340 mounts. There is a A-body and a E-body 340 mount. The holes where the biscuits mount on a A-body car are more forward, the holes for a E-body car are further to the back of the mount. Make sure you have a A-body mounts. This is imperative or your engine wont sit right.I have seen people on ebay selling 340 mounts, saying they will fit Darts,Dusters,Challengers,Cudas. Not true, they must be A-body.

Any pics of what you have would also help.

Another day & more info. I called Schumacher today & they insisted that I need a A body 318 drivers side Bracket for my R3 360. I also contacted Lofgren Auto specialties who also confirmed what Schumacher said. My drivers side 340 bracket isnt working so my next step will be to look for a 318 A body early 70's bracket. If anyone has a Abody 318 drivers side bracket, I need one. Please respond with any info.

Do you have any pics of the 340 bracket, and what your working with ?

If it is a true 340 A-body bracket,I would be willing to trade you straight across for a 1970 318 A-body bracket.

I'll try to post pictures tomorrow, The bracket came off my 340 block it has a slight curve. I had to use 3/8th shims so the bracket would bolt up tight to the R3 block.

Sorry for the delay. Computer bombed.

picture #1 is the left & right 340 brackets.

Picture #2 are the same brackets turned to the right.

Picture #3 is a 318 drivers side bracket with poly loc mount.

Picture #4 is the 318 bracket/mount installed.

Picture #5 is the passenger side 340 bracket/mount installed.
