So I went to the local cruise tonight with my '71. Everybody knows I have a 340 coming for the car. The general consensus on pulling the motor is mixed. I was going to pull it from the top like always but I had a guy offer me his shop and help to pull it out the bottom. I had a reaction from a few guys saying if the K Frame torsion bars etc. have never been out DON'T do it," the car wont be the same and its opening up a can of worms" "your not putting a hemi in it " etc...........thoughts?:banghead:

I just took mine out the top, and kept the trans attached as well, also did it all by my self, It wasn't very hard.

Out the bottom requires an alignment unless you are good at making the adjusters.

Good question Wally...not sure what Im going to do(if I ever get to that point) but I like challenges and trying something new, but with mine being a vert I might be forced to go at er from the top. There's sumthin to be said for doing her from the bottom tho.....

Someone should make a sticky with putting it in from the bottom.
No brainer tho if you got the use of a hoist

Since I am going to be doing a full suspension rebuild and repaint, it is a no brainer to do it from the bottom. If your paint is fresh, this would be the safest way to keep from scratching it up.

When I built my car and the paint was Fresh the engine and suspension was assembled and put in as the factory did.

At 167 miles the engine was back out thru the top and again at 3,000

I wouldn't put a small block thru the bottom unless it was a complete new build. Why mess with the suspension unless you are rebuilding it?
