Moving the bumpers in on a 74 gold duster?

I have a 74 gold duster and im not a fan of the impact bumper. Is there any way you could use 73 bumper brackets or maybe make the shock ones wwork some how. I want to bring both the front and rear bumpers in like the 73 dusters. Any ideas?
 
I gutted the bumper shock, and then welded it to a new shorter distance. I only took out about 1/2 an inch.
Now your local laws may not like this so do it accordingly. My car also see's very little street use, but the odd car shows and odd cruise. I ended up doing this because the original frame where the shock bolted to is now gone. I'm sure if someone hit the back of the car with the Alston frame kit it would be all over for my Duster.
