mp1 dual plane air gap style ?

Is there an air gap style dual plane intake from mopar performance ? If so how does it compare to the edelbrock,thanks mike, it would be for a 340/416 street/strip build,scat forged bottom end,imm 2.02 iron heads,voodo .533/.552 hyd. Cam ? 10 to 1 cr. 770 street avenger vacuum sec. Thanks,Mike
 
MP's duel plane is not an Air Gap type intake. Its pretty much just an aluminum counterpart to the factory iron 4bbl intakes. My advice would be a Performer RPM.

I believe they been both tested very close in performance. Air gap is supposed to cool the incoming air more. Don't know if that's been tested to be significant.

If you are looking at used ones, you might find around a $60 difference between Air Gap and RPM. Might be 5hp difference. You decide if you could get 5hp somewhere else for less than $60.
 
The air-gap has a slightly longer runner length than the RPM but are very comparable. Theoretically it should keep the air charge cooler inherent to the design, but the air-gap definitely looks cooler if your concerned with wow factor also :)
 
I like the wow factor,that's why I asked(and it says mopar performance) and also perform alitte better,would the M1 single plane work good on the low end of a 4" arm 340 and how about under hood clearance issues,thanks.
 
Unless you live in Texas or Florida dont forget the Air Gap will be more cold blooded. I drive all winter here in Jersey and my performer RPM takes long enough as is to warm up. I could not imagine waiting for an Air Gap to warm up and idle right.

M1 has same flange height as stock and Edelbrock RPM.

M1 single plane will generally loose some low end TQ and HP in mild street 4" stroke motor. And the dual plane will idle a little smoother and easier to tune. If you have a good tunable carb and you are on top of your tuning abilities, you can get a nice idle out of a single plane. Sort of depends on your cam really.

I use the M1 single plane. But I'm willing to give up some low end for more high end at the road coure track. Car does not hook up great on the street with the stiff suspension, stiff tires, etc anyways.

But I do have a Edelbrock RPM ready to go on the the shelf waiting. I scored it for $80. About $40 less than the M1 I got off ebay.
 
Will the electric choke on the 770 solve that issue ?

It'll help some but the real problem is you need heat to properly atomize the fuel. I found a good solution. A block heater. I'm running an Eddy Air-Gap with a 750 "no-choke" carb and I plug in the block heater about 3-4 hrs. before I plan on going somewhere and I can jump in and start it right up without even touching the gas and take off like it has been warmed up for 10+ minutes. The block heater cost about $25 at Napa, was easy to install and another plus is since I don't have to sit there feathering the throttle for 5+ minutes before it'll run on it's own the fuel mileage average jumped up 2 mpg.
