MRL Performance

He (Cody) does worry about some clown shooting his dog thinking it's a wolf.

11,000 for a claimed 534hp 360?

I'd say you were steered wrong...like pants down into a corner
IDK if the engine included all new parts ready to run , 11,000 doesn't seem too far off, ya gotta make something for machining, porting and assembly.

Here the game animals have learned better how to cope with the wolves since their re-introduction and the wolf presence has actually enhanced the wilderness experience. The encounter I wrote of isn't the only interaction we've had with the wolves and they've all been exciting. I have no desire to ever shoot one of them.
Thanks for saying that.
I've become somewhat angry over the folks wiping them out once they roam outside the park. No point or reason to kill so few wild endangered creatures. Do they kill livestock? As do coyotes, foxes etc...Sure... if you let them.

I love dogs, but theres plenty of them...like cats...no one seems to mind running them over left n right and abandoning them.
You cant go find yourself a wolf in just any ol woods...
For folks to think they are the toughest predator is very niave.... the gun you hold is all that keeps you from being another dog in a wilderness of bears n wolves.

I'm not anti gun, everyone knows me better than that... in regards to these wolves...I'm just anti shooting Beautiful & majestic creatures in THEIR HOME.
I get it, the ones, many at least....that roam onto someone elses property... they can threaten life... but how I see it..is... theres a certain point of how far you move your *** into the country that no longer makes it hu-mans land... and you're merely generationally leasing it and are a GUEST in their home/land. The indians had a good grip on this...and I'm part.
This day and age... it's merely a sport and imo unnecessary to carry on like its cavemen and pioneers killing everything for its coat to hang on a wall and collect dust...so many taxidermied animals have just been tossed in the long run...

I know I could articulate this better so that more of you would understand where I'm coming from and what exactly I mean... I'm not anti hunting...unless you're just a pelt/horn collector...but if you eat it, that's great...and what I do support, to extent ad well...cause imo..yeah it's just my opinion cause I'm not expert....some things you cant live off of without wiping them out eventually.
If we didnt raise them to eat them and milk them.. there'd be no cows left...for instance...along with all the other ****. I'm not **** head who thinks if I dont NEED it ..then it must disposable or okay to waste.

I reflected today... peoples opinions of me or what I post here... some of you got me down pat... but many have a lot of other notions that couldn't be further from the truth.

Personally I don't think we will get off this spinning ball of mud until we learn to get along.

We get along, we just have a different opinion sometimes.
It's all in good fun.
? Who can build a 500 HP stock stroke 360 from carb to pan ready to run for $10,000

Does $10000 include the car….

I was close to 500 hp with my stock bottom end 360. I was way under $10,000. It ran 10.20 @ 130 mph.

I want a fresh blueprinted short block with oil mods, new ported aluminum heads with new rocker gear, new camshaft and lifters, new carb and intake, new distributor with curve and new tin. oh and new fasteners and someone to build it.
It's adding up

I was on a budget build. Pretty much everything in that 360 was used. I spent money where it was needed, ported the iron heads

We had a cracked cylinder head leaking water so we pulled out of the contest and never got listed in the results. Even with the head blowing water out the exhaust the 292ci/273 made something like 480 horsepower prior to the contest. Here are listed results of other engines including MRL's entry.

Looks like MRL built a 470hp 340 that used unported RHS x-heads and he used a solid flat tappet cam while all the other seem to have solid rollers.
Was porting allowed on the heads in that competition?

Jim, the gist of the rules were:
Indy X heads, Rockett 93, best HP/CI?
No rpm limits? No averaging? No cost considerations?
Stock blocks?
