I have this MSD box that was in my Dart, loose in the trunk. I know nothing about these but I'm trying to clear out some of my excess stuff. How do I verify if it works or not?

Simple Wire it up and try it. Go to the MSD site and look up the destructions

You need access to a battery, a coil and a way to rig a spark test gap. If you want to test the inductive pickup you'l need some sort of such as a Mopar breakerless distributor to try

Hook the large black to battery NEG
Hook the large red to batter POS
When ready to test, also hook the small read to battery plus

Hook up the coil wires from the box, (you look them up I do not remember)

Rig your spark gap with the ground of the gap on battery NEG

Tap the white wire on battery neg, and each time you do should result in a short spurt of sparks

To test breakerless, hook a inductive (Mopar) breakerless dist up to the appropriate connector (violet an ??orange check the destructions) and spin the dist.

Autotronics, the old MSD company, used to test the boxes for the cost of shipping.
If a box has an intermittent issue, just bench testing won't show that issue.

Now that Hoeely owns the company, I don't know what they would do.

Thanks for the tips, I'll give this a run on the test bench.
