I'm workin on my 71 valiant that I just redid most of the wiring on. I put in an MSD6al box and mounted the battery in the trunk. I also went with a ford style starter relay(a 4 post)to clean up wiring under the hood. My problem is really only two wires. I need to know which wire to use for the ignition wire on the msd and which wire to use for the starter solinoid. wait, one more since I mounted the battey in the trunk and have a seperate fuse box for fuel pump, fan, waterpump etc. where does the factory fuse box get its power from? Do i need to run another lead from the battery to the factory box? I hate wiring

Since we don't know what you've done, it's pretty difficult to tell you what to do. In other words, you've made some changes.

How does this Ford solenoid figure in? What are you doing with it?

The "wire for the starter solenoid" should be the same wire that always went to it.

(You running a factory underhood harness or aftermarket, or what?)

Are you running a safety disconnect? This will change things because you'll have to incorporate something to kill the alternator, otherwise the engine can stay running on the alternator, with the battery disconnect pulled

The factory fuse boxes originally got their power right from the battery--via the big post on the original starter relay. What have you done to change that?

On the diagram below, follow from the battery--to the starter relay--wire marked fusable link--to "J" on the bulkhead connector is red which goes to ammeter, then black coming OUT of the ammeter, follow that and there is an IN HARNESS splice (on the diagram marked red-tr) which feeds up to the fusebox

that was exactly what i was lookin for. when I got the car, the whole wiring harness had been cut up and spliced so many times I just ran all new wires. Thanks for the schematic...dan
