1971 duster 340 with MSD 6AL ignition installed with aftermarket tach hooked up and working. Bought the MSD 8910 so i could get the stock in dash RPM gauge to work. Well no luck. From what i can read on the MSD site I think i needed the 8920 unit not the 8910. Who has the stock gauge and a aftermarket gauge running MSD working? Can you let me know what you used thanks!

According to the MSD 6AL destructions, page 7:

http://www.msdignition.com/WorkArea/DownloadAsset.aspx?id=15032386116

you need the 8910 if you had breaker points OR ARE using the original Mopar breakerless ignition module to trigger the MSD using the white wire

you need the 8920 if you are using your Mopar breakerless distributor to trigger the MSD magnetic input, and have eliminated the Mopar ECU

But have you actually tried the tach? Use the tach output (gray)?

67Dart273 beat me to the link. I needed to use the 8920 (picked it up from a FABO member here) on my 72 Duster, 340 w/MSD 6AL. piece of cake to wire up and works great. Using a 30 something year old old Sunpro tach for the time being.
