I'm trying to help a buddy out with his car, 74 Duster, as he is installing an MSD Streetfighter ignition system. The system is hooked up correctly as per the directions...

His car has a 4 terminal ballast resistor. The red wire from the kit goes to original coil + wire (brown) so should it just splice into this wire?

The old Mopar ignition box (5 prong ) is unhooked.

The big issue is that the under dash wiring is modified and a mess. Bulkhead is unhooked as well. So the shop he has the car is trying to jump the ignition in the engine compartment. They were able to turn it over but no fire.

How would one correctly go about temporary wiring an ignition in the engine compartment so that it can be cranked and started?

The shop jumped it and was able to crank when wired to the old ignition. Now no crank with msd hooked up. Any suggestions?

I'm not use to rigged or modified ignition wiring. Ignition switch is in the column so pulling it and wiring it in the engine compartment would be a pain. Any suggestions on where to start?
