Muscle motors mopar """" BEWARE"""""""

-
There are some days when I read a thread and wonder why everybody involved can't just get a life and let things go. The guy know he probably made some bad moves, but also feels like he got cheated because the seller didn't do what they said they would do and wanted to alert others. The fact that the engine is still listed is a red flag and he was letting us know. Just cool off and do something productive like I see happen here all the time.

just putting my experience out there to help my fellow enthusiasts make an informed decision before using these guys

Ok so about three months ago i find this 422 stroker on fleabay , they are askin 15k made 673 hp on 92 octane . so i went back and fourth messaging . and struck a deal for quite a bit less than asking price. bought it off ebay not through the listing. Long story short i pay them through wire transfer. it takes a couple weeks for them to ship , no big deal. so about a week after i pay the engine is still listed on ebay, i ask why is my engine still listed. i get " oh dont worry about that " listing expires and gets relisted. same pics of the build sheet, dyno sheet and the engine on the dyno . same description . last message i sent them when they told me it would be ready to ship in a day or two was " hey dont forget the cam card, build sheet and dyno sheet for me please " yeah no problem. i get the engine here and it is the engine in the pics , same markings , carb , all of it . i even pulled the intake and everything is correct. only no build sheet, no dyno sheet and no cam card. i message them " sure we will get that to you we are moving shops so everything has been crazy" ok no problem . that was two months ago . a month ago i messaged again . their response " i have everything but the cam card for you " me " OK send it and try to find the cam info" no response . here i am three months after buying this engine no info on it at all . i know whats in the listing because , ITS STILL LISTED ON EBAY item number 113194862796. paid these guys a fortune for this thing and cant get a single shred of paperwork on it . hope the fuckin thing actually runs. i will never ever deal with Muscle Motors again

Did you get the cam card and dyno sheet from them??? If not, just copy and save the pictures from the ad....

If they lost the cam card while moving, you can always degree the cam before you install the engine to see what the cam is... Or ask them what manufacturer and cam number is and get the info from the manufacturer....

Have to agree with that, but if I was to spend 15K on a motor, I would have the cam card in hand long before the seller had the money. And I would want to be on site in person for the dyno run. Just saying,,,

Just expressing my view...just like you

Pretty dumb buying it off Ebay and Paypal just to get it cheaper with no fees involved. That was your decision. Then come here and cry about it? You had everything at your disposal that would have protected you TWO TIMES OVER, both through Ebay and Paypal. You're your own worst enemy here.
Man your a bit of a negative bugger !

Are you drunk ? You can be truth full and not be an *** clown

Look man, I didn't come after you or anybody else. I don't give a flip what you think of me. Go take a long walk off a short pier.

Yup like I said wouldn’t hurt to be less aggressive :icon_fU:
How old is this tread? muscle motors quit the business , what 4 yrs ago ??

$15,000 , " NO PAYPAL guarantee" , he asked for it !

I think the original poster screwed up and he knows it. He was just trying to warn others.

I can't believe in this day and age that someone would wire that kind of money to anyone that they didn't personally know or at least visit their shop? They have 43 feedbacks on eBay, that ain't saying much. Hopefully someone else will read this thread and think twice before doing something similar.

It is interesting that they ship out of Lansing, MI as that’s where Muscle Motors was located. Maybe they are still building a few.

I wouldn't be happy with the deal either OP. What may seem minuscule to many people in regards to the paperwork is what tipped the scales on your trust with Muscle Motors..... As for the excuse about moving, they can scrap that deal. Owning a business means you will follow through even in adversity and that's the bottom line. If they have done their due diligence on selling a motor such as this your paperwork should consist of moving a few PDF's to an email and sending them your way...

As for the comments about spending that kind of money through Ebay, to each his own but that's chump change as to some of my transactions I have done in the past and it typically goes smooth as silk. I put it all on MM for not sealing the deal and not doing what was promised.....

Good luck OP,
JW

Find a local machinest/builder you trust, and either have em do the the machine work and assembly, or have em machine it, and you do the assembly work yourself. Then you know its right.

I feel panheadchuck's pain, i got took to the cleaners on abodies and when i finally got in contact with the turd who scammed me, i just told him i would go to hell and back to find him, what does he do , calls the administrator (Joey) saying i threatened him, so what happened got banned from a bodies for 2 years, the asshole that scammed me even had balls enough to call me after he scammed me to say he and his friends had one hell of a party on my money. I drove 5 hours one way to take a warrant out for him, also run a background check, he burned a historic hotel lighting a fatboy with a brown paper bag at age 16, he had 5 alias and 4 addresses, and a criminal record 2 sheets long and him only 34, but i was the one who got the bad deal ,trying to explain to the admin. of this site to pull up his record and all it took for him to get me banned was to call Joey and say i threatened him, all i had done is answer his smartass statement that i wouldn't drive 300 miles to take out a warrant for him, thats when i told him i would go to hell and back after him for what he scammed me for.So when someone gets screwed out of his money the last thing he needs is someone come along and tell you how dumb you are, and if you don't try to save money on parts and tools, then i'm glad you have a fat wallet, but this thread is the reason people leave a bodies, and reason i have quit posting, but i thought you should show a little compassion ,instead of saying how dumb someone is ,they are done hurt from being screwed without you rubbing it in like a 5th grader. As far as you panheadchuck, call the FTC and report it, if they are listed as a business, you can file a complaint if they didn't give you what they advertised.

interesting read , though not the first time I've heard horror stories about MM. no sweat here, I wouldn't do business with them anyway, nor would I send that kind of money out into space without some kind of protection. as for paperwork, they could provide any kind of paperwork, that doesn't in any way guarantee it belongs to that specific engine, this is why I do and will always put together my own ****, so I know for a fact exactly what's there, and if it fails, I can't put it on anyone but me.

op, I hope all turns out well for you.

I'm always on the lookout for red flags when it comes to spending my HARD earned money. I want to trust folks on here that I deal with, but I still cringe until the deal is done and the part is in my hands.

Just for the record, I called MM about a year ago, and they were still in business then. They were at that time changing their business model to just selling parts, and getting out of the engine building end. Obviously they are still selling on eBay, and maybe directly still.

From what I remember. IIRC, “Ken” of MM was having family issues on a large scale and wrapped up the biz suddenly to take care of the family first. What we “MAY” be seeing here is the last of there inventories being sold.

I haven’t heard to many great stories from people dealing with Muscle Motors myself. While there rep isn’t as bad as Indy cylinder head, it isn’t a good rep like Mancini racing or BluePrint engines.

To the OP, I’m very sorry this fiasco is taking place.
To error on the side of caution, disassemble the engine and check it out carefully. Then run it. On a dyno would be great BUT don’t get caught up in the numbers so quickly since we don’t know what dyno they ran it on or how anything else was done from start to finish.

Perhaps everything is actually OK even though everything prior sucked. Best of luck.

Since I'm not a pansy, I don't beat around the bush. Welcome to "the list".
I was quietly on the list already it’s funny how aggression comes across in a read , treat disrespect with respect .

Ps.thanks for the warring about muscle motors why this tread started
