mustang wheels

I don't know of anybody using late model mustang wheels, most guys are using the `97-`01 wheels with 5.72" backspace. the newer ones have over 6" of offset.
these are `99 cobra 17x8s

On the rear anything more than about 5.5" of B.S. and your going to be hitting the rear springs in a factory stock suspension car if your still have stock width A body rear end.

The front with 18's I have seen others on this forum here run as much as 6.5" BS with a 9" wheel. However wont work with 17" I guess the tie rod end hits the wheel.

I'm doing 18X10 rear and 18x9 fronts right now on my Dart. requires quite a bit of work on the rear. Also note that the hub center of a mustang wheel is to small for the mopar 1973 big bolt pattern hubs. I dealing with that right now. I guess you could bore the wheel center or I'm looking into machining down the hub on my Dart.

My guess in most cases not just a simple bolt on project. However it can be done like shown above.

Offset evidently varies. I found what I thought were a nice set on Craigs, and they seem to have nearly NO offset

yea. i have the 94-04 year 17x8 with 5.72 backspace on my 68 barracuda. standard mustang wheel. got off craigslist. my car has the 73 and later disc brake setup, i still had to use a 3/8" spacer. which is common to run a wheel of that size up front. the rear i have a b-body 8 3/4. they fit in there perfectly with that rear. stock a body width rear they would not fit.

Mustang 94-04 is the range. 93-79 are 4 bolt and 2005 and newer have the more positive offset.

I'm running 03 stang wheels on my 67 Dart. Needed a 3/8" spacer up front. I machined out the wheels to match the mopar hub diameter.

The 17" diameter puts the wheel lip right in line with the tie rod. If the wheels were 1/2" narrower or had less backspacing it wouldn't be necessary.

You want 94-04 wheels for the front and 2005+ for the rear if you do 9s and 10s.

I don't get this. Found these in Spokane and the backspace is HUGELY wrong

I think he told me the backspace is 7? inches?

If you go with some 18x9s for the front the 94-04s usually run about 5.9" of bs. The 05+ fronts usually fall in the 6.4-5 bs range. The rears in the 18x10s are around 6.5 bs for 94-04 and 7-7.2" bs for 05+ rears. Either way a minitub is in order for the rear with the 10s and I ran the 05+ with 7.2 and I had room to spare but with a rolled lip on my Dart. On the front I have about 5.85 bs with my 18x9s and its perfect with the 275s.
