My 1967 Cuda Restoration

-
Since my car is black now, I decided to paint the argent color
on the grill to black. All of the studs have been replaced, so it's
ready to mount.

What do you think?.......I can take it!

I usually like to keep everything looking stock on the exterior, but I love those black grilles. I am restoring a factory black/red gut/red stripe 69 forumula s fastback and your 67 grilles remind me of the black plastic grille surrounds and the 69's. Super cool car. nice job. keep us posted.

Oh hell yeah!!!
Different is good, keep it up, FNA.

For thos of you that don't know what FNA is, just think about it and it will come to you. LOL.

Those grilles are work of art, and from the looks of it, the whole car is going to be one.

Thanks John!

I'm getting a little excited now.:-D

I've seen the grilles painted black before on a orange car. I didn't care for it.
I saw some painted body color ( white ) too. That made the surround look like an extention of the header panel turned back into there with a small outer trim applied. Didn't look bad at all.
I guess you know bolting the grilles back in while the header panel is on the car is a chore. Its easier with the header panel face down on the ground but removing it requires removing the front bumper, etc.. I've done it both ways.
If you do remove the header panel be sure to loosen and spread the fron of the fenders a little. Otherwaise the bolt ears on the header panel will scratch them. And lower the hood to check/adjust that gap across the front before tightening the bolts. Either way, have fun :)

At this time the front end is completely apart for painting. The surrounds
will be installed in the header panel before it's installed.

BTW the paint and body guys can have all the fun.:-D They will be installing the fenders, header, doors,
hood and deck lid after they are painted.

Where have I been #-o This barracuda is looking like a movie maker

Thanks Mike

That knob may be better than mine. I'm also missing
the data tag on the back of the lid. When I had it
powder coated they sand blasted it off.

Well, congratulations are certainly in order Tony. I've been following your resto since the beginning, and I gotta' say you've gone above and beyond with this effort. I'd sure like to see the grin on your face first time you take it around the block.

Thank you Sid!

I hope to get that drive in sometime before July or August.

I'm sure there will be a picture of that grin when it happens!

The Rod Shop brought the 'Cuda home a few minutes ago.

I'll have it here until Brad is ready to install the engine,
tranny and gears.

In the meantime I will get the heater box back in and install
the dash.

That's great Tony!!! Bet you'll do what I did after I got it back from paint....I just sat in the shop and stared, drooled.....stared, drooled.....

I gotta echo Ross on this one, Tony. I don't know how I missed it, so I just went back through from page one. Gotta love it! Fantastic paint work, man, you got your money's worth on that job.

Thanks Robert....one of the guys said the boss didn't charge near enough
for this job. I have to agree.

Left the reg's in.

Smart man.

Couldn't see any reason to take them out. I took a look after your other
post and they look like a beach! I'm glad I left them in.

Tomorrow I will be installing the wiper shaft gaskets before I put
the heater box back in. Got my heater core today from Autozone.
$33.00 plus tax. Couldn't beat that price anywhere.
