My 1970 Duster 340 FM3 project

Well, started welding her back together last night

Yea!!! Now the fun (grinding down those plug welds) begins. I used a 3/8" x 14" (I think X 14"?) air belt sander that works pretty good, versus using a cut off wheel or grinder, helps reduce grinding other than welds... HF has em, but get this - "not the belts"??? I got 3M blue belts from a local body supply shop in different grits, pretty sure they were 40, 60, 80. As long as you don't press too hard and keep the roller centered, tool oiled and drive pulley/wheel clean, they belts last pretty long. Have fun:thumbsup:

Decoded the Broadcast sheet - Came with 3.91 sure grip, Rallye Wheels, Rallye Dash, manual steering, manual front disc brakes with rear drums, AM radio, front sway bar, heavy duty suspension, maximum cooling, deluxe black vinyl bench seat, and black side & tail stripes. 37 amp alternator, 18" 7-blade fan and no other options to speak of
Right on. All manual Muscle car, just the way I like it

Got the tail panel welded in place today as well as the trunk extension and braces. Still need to weld in the trunk lock support and tail light housings. that will have to wait for another day. For now though, she is starting to look like a car again!

Guess it's been a while since I've posted any progress pics. It's been slower going than I would like but you know how it is. I've repaired the rust on the passenger side lower quarter and in front of the driver side wheel well. Basically, the back end is just about done.

How she sits right now. Going to try and do some work on her this weekend as well. May end up having to sell her fairly soon as I have been informed by my insurance provider that I need a new roof on my house and I really don't want to go into debt to do that :( I basically have a month to come up with the money to start the roofing process or I lose my coverage :mad::mad::mad:

I hope you can come up with the funds and be able to keep the car. That said, I completely understand not wanting to borrow the money.

And then I went and did a thing - Bought another Duster. This one is a numbers matching 1971 TX9 340 4-Speed car. Should have a B&W Plaid Bench Seat interior, chrome exhaust tips and a Gull Wing. Now I really have to decide if I am going to keep gong on the Pink car or not...

Which one is the rarest? The black one has some odd ball options

1971 and black with a go wing Hmmmm...tough choice.

Well, no matter which one I end up keeping, gotta keep going on the pink one for a bit still. Can't leave things I started undone. Got the passenger floor all fitted. Hope to weld it in place tomorrow.
