I am at my wits end with this problem. Turning right at under 30mph results in a terrible, high pitched, metal on metal squeal that is about eleventy billion decibels.

First I checked the power steering belt, its fine. Then I made sure the steering fluid was good, it was. So then I thought that it might be the actual steering linkage that was making the sound. I started lubing up the bushings under the car, even replacing the left tie rod ends since they were blown out. Still the car is making the sound.

It only happens when I make sharp right hand turns at slow speeds. I am now thinking that it might be the steering column itself. Does anyone have any ideas on this? Thanks a ton guys!

I would check wheel bearings, probably the left one first. But changes both sides if your gonna do one.

Wheel bearings usually only make noises when you turn.
