Ok....my parts are:
Bilstein shocks
New PST leaf springs and shackles
Dr. Diff 3:55 posi third member (assembled - just drop in)
Dr. Diff axles 5 by 4.5"
Dr. Diff 10" drum brakes

Somehow found a little energy after work today so I got a little head start by getting it up on stands and the wheels off.

Tomorrow morning I really start.
I'll tear the whole thing down and start the clean up.
Check in for updates!

Anyone know what traction bars I have there?

I have a coworker who owns a 440 sport fury that would walk all over my duster
he claims it has a "posi" in it and I have to give him grief about it aswell

I use "posi" as a generic term....!
I come from Chevys.......so I'm disadvantaged!

Ok.....rear end is out.

Got a lot of cleaning and painting to do while I wait for my parts to show up. ....

come on!!!! really??? .. we cant say posi for posi traction.... is car talk PC also?

no, you can say it. just be prepared to get picked on a bit :D

its all good, we all had to learn a some point

considering those springs may have been on there for the better part of 50 years, you may get more then one inch lift out of the new springs

Just an update on my project........

I had to cut my old u-bolts off, no big deal.
Ordered and received new ones from Mancini.

New rear rubber brake line replaced while it's easy to get to.

I received my differential from Dr diff. .....looks awesome - I'll post a pic in a bit.

But........the whole thing is really on hold waiting FOREVER for my leaf springs from PST.
Also, the leaf spring shackle kit they sold me is missing one bushing so I get to call them today and wait some more.

If i had known it would take a month to get my leaf springs from PST, I would have ordered them from someone else.

I'll go out to the garage now and look at the car I wish I was driving.

Ok, here's some more pics of my progress. .....
Got the old differential out and cleaned up. ...tossed a coat of paint on the housing too.....
Cleaned and mopped my garage too....what a mess!
And a pic of the new unit. .....

I keep out all my tools until I put it all back together so I don't have to find them all twice.

Wish I had my springs!

While I had mine out and apart I did the 1/8 npt drain plug install like they did in one of the magazines.

I have a question, my drum brakes came assembled, do I have to disassemble them to install the e-brake cable! ?????

I don't know that you HAVE TO, but I have never been able to attach with shoes installed. Was always faster to disassemble, connect and reassemble.

Probably not totally, may have to just undo the bottom of it to work it in. Your doing it the right way, I'm going to redo my sbp rear and I'm going to need hi strength axles. The brakes your using are a step up than just re drilling the old stuff plus your going from 10x13/4" to 10x2.5"

Awesome. ...thank you!
