Funny you mention that.
Every time I bring up shop classes to the superintendent of the district and the rest of the district they fight it because the preschoolers are too young to use tools. WTF is wrong with these people?
Dam I taking transistor radio apart at 7 just to see what made them tick and had a blast doing it did I learn anything No but it was fun

You probably learned more than you think about how things come apart and go back together
Went down to the local electronics supply warehouse, bought a light switch and 20' of wire, and made a mute switch for the tv in a box made of scrap lumber. I'm guessing that I was 10 or 11.
I even unplugged the tv first then turned it on to drain the caps first!
Of course, I got yelled at for doing it because... MOM.
I have ALWAYS hated commercials. In retrospect, I should have just not have watched the damn tv at all.

When I was a kid I’d come home from school and dad would be sitting on the living room floor with this old Marconi black and white tv in about a gazillion pieces. Tube testers meters and assorted tools. I can remember thinking this thing is never going to work again. Then by supper time we were watching the news
