Just recently got back in to the Mopar scene again and found me a nice '70 Gold Duster. It feels good to be back!

Anyways, I bought this car from the original owner. This was his first brand new car and was very sentimental to him. See, he immigrated from Hungary in 1956 along with his wife. He babied this car from the day he bought it. When I purchased the car he gave me a folder with the factory paperwork and all the receipt from years of basic maintenance and repairs.

The car is nothing fancy like a 340 Duster or anything like that. Just a basic 318 w/2bbl with column shifted auto. However, it has a few things that make the car nice to have and drive. It, of course, came with the Gold Duster package. Added to that it has P/S, A/C, and manual disc brakes. A good driver back in the day. Luckily, this car has spent it's entire life in Tucson, AZ!

I'm curious to see what you all think of my recent purchase and if I did OK, money wise, on it. I paid $4200 and it all works but needs a new master cylinder and washer reservoir. (link to larger and more detailed pics: http://s5.photobucket.com/albums/y180/KellyLee1970/Duster/ )

All these pics are after just getting it home.

id give 4200 for that car all day long. you would save that much by not having to patch rust or hang quarters. super solid ride! you did well.

VERY VERY nice!!! It's hard to find original a bodys, let alone a 70' gold duster nice find!!! Keep it as original as you can it's a great looking ride!!! Phoenixgraphics.com will sell you a quality replacement tail panel stripe. I think you did very well a little armor all and some wax it wouldn't be hard to double your money!

Nice score on a CLEAN Duster. I think you did alright on the price, 1970 is one of the more desireable years. Welcome to FABO!

what ever you do. DO NOT! armor all the interior. it will make the vinyl brittle. especially the dash pad. had a perfect dash pad in a 72 duster that i had. used the armor all on the dash pad a few times. it cracked right down the midde less than a month later.

Nice buy Kelly!

Clean solid body... Some simple green in the engine compartment and a light pressure wash and it will look good.

Very clean, I was amazed how good the interior is in for an AZ car.
Clean it up a little an enjoy it, they are only original once.
What are your plans for it?

great car.
i wouldn't change anything, just carefully detail worn parts back original if necessary
but then again it's a hobby and your car to do what you like.

Thanks, guys. The car was stored out of the sun most of the time and, once he parked it for good, it stayed under a car cover and a carport.

I thought about just keeping it original but the wife isn't thrilled with the paint color. She wants it to be purple and not Plum Crazy purple. Purple with a green interior...:banghead: I honestly don't know what to do on that front. I know for sure I won't do anything that can't be returned to stock easy enough.

Oh, did find something I forgot to check that it needs fixed. For some reason the horn doesn't work. All fuses look good, the actual horns themselves work (loud!), and the horn switch looks perfect. Just got to trace it down.

Nice buy. Thats what I paid for my 73 318 car. Yours in in a little better shape. I like the original color combo.

The way it looks, I would NOT paint that car under any circumstances.

They only have original paint once!

You have everything you need a/c heat gas pedal and bench seat to make out in.If i'm missing anything please feel free to ad to list.Nice Car look great leave keys in it and title (signed of course) and i'll be buy to get it..Cool Thanks ARCO

Very nice find and considering the price for rusty panel repairs you stole the car! Whats the paint code? I found a one owner '70 Duster in California about 5 years ago but it has some dents/dings but no rust. Mines B7 with B7 interior (keeping it this way so got lucky with the color as this was what I was looking for)and mighty slant 6! lol
You got a sweet car, there!

Very clean ride you scored! In no way would I paint that car if it was mine. My 71 still has the original green paint on it, when I was a kid I wanted nothing more than to paint it blue and am I ever glad I didn't as I get a lot of compliments for it being original. The price seems more than fair for a 2nd owner that clean. Enjoy!!

Sounds just like this car. A few dings, nicks, chips, and scratches but still in pretty decent shape. I think a good waxing and it will shine even better.

Oh, yeah, paint code is BL1 - Sand Pebble Beige. Interior is F8 Green.

Welcome  and I wish I had one just like it :supz:
That way you get to keep that one:glasses7:
X2 on do not paint it :coffee2: Looks very nice and complete.

I guess there was another guy who wanted to buy it and do a 340 clone but the seller had already agreed to sell to me. Probably didn't help the guy telling him what he wanted to do to the car! :D

I'd throw some nice wheels and maybe a carpet kit and leave it alone! Nice find and a hell of a deal

From a east coast guy, you got a great deal. Personally i would keep it stock as long as you can. But you've got a great foundation down the road if the resto/modified bug strikes you.

Purple is cool, but you'd have to do the interior also, black or white i would guess. Could always do my favorite....F8 green :D.
