My old Dart at the Texas Thaw (vids)

lil scary next to the guardrail though!

Brings back what happened to me one night at Temple, i normally ran 98-99 mph in the 1/8, on a pass i was just at the 1/8 (in the right lane) when all of a sudden the *** end of the car kicked too the side on me, talk about havin a f#ckin heart attack, there is "absilutely" no room for error at that track, i've made a good 200 passes with the Duster there. Looks like they took down the stands on the Pit side, they were falling apart.

years ago we took the vega to a Texas Pro Gas event at Temple. We were running 1/8th mile, but noticed all the other peeps were staying in it till 1/4, I was under the impression it was 1/8th mile but guess not! Cool Track, lil scary next to the guardrail though!

Years ago? there used to be a bar just past the end of the track and some of the locals used to stop in for a beer after a pass, I think it was 1/4 mile back then maybe not.

wow that crazy! lol, lil dangerous maybe lol! It it was back towards 99-2000 that we were running Texas Pro Gas, later it turned into Texas Prostocks. We ran a pro mod chassis 96 camaro (with pro mod bars cut back out) with a 407 all motor small block with 2 dominators (cause sb's could run dual setup, bb's only 1 carb). We got it down to 4.98 @ 138mph, but now that same class is running 4.70's. The small block can't hang no more lol

Thanks for the kind words guys.I just bought another complete center section for the 8 3/4 yesterday (it was to cheap to pass up).Its got 4.86 gears in it .It outta pick it up in the 1/8 over the 4.10's (if it will hook up).Cant wait to try it out.Im hoping it will get the Dart flirting with the 6's .Going to a nasty solid cam next.Stay tuned for more vids soon ...

You need to get rid of those slapper bars and buy a set of S/S Springs or get a set of Caltrac with Mono springs and a good set of shocks.
You need more cam and port the heads and need MORE stall(1200-1500 below peak HP)and put at least a 4.30 gear.

Need need need, that'll take cash cash cash lol. I've run caltracs before along with SS springs, they "are not" fool-proof means for hooking up, They too need other components too make them work efficiently, that takes $$$ that alot of us don't have.

I do like your Mopar powered mustang, i bet you get rassed for that alot ha.

Agreed on the gears ,i got a 4.86 center section (for the 1/8) that im installing this weekend. As far as the caltracs and titanium space shuttle componets go,i'll pass. This is a fun, cheap ,Nostalgia race car,not a Prostock car running for the points chase .When the baby slicks start spinning and the car wont 60' consistantly anymore i'll address the traction setup again.Until then im gunna keep running the slappers and having fun .Thats why i said earlier "I know the slappers are not the popular solution for traction on a Mopar".Neat that you have a Mopar in a Mustang BTW ...8)

i've been told pinion snubber was the trick to mopar rears.... any truth to this?

Not sure But I never ran a snubber in my Dart.I had a 9inch ford in my Dart and S/S Springs with a set of MP M/T shocks and it would 60ft in the 1.31-1.33 and run 9.70's with my 425W5('01-05) motor.
