After a few years of wanting and searching for a very specific (and as it turned out hard to find) dodge d100, I found what I was after. My “must haves” I was not willing to negotiate on and I passed on many, many trucks because they were missing one or two important things to me. The list is short, but it was;
1. 72’ to 75’ D100
2.short bed
3.fleet side (sweptline)
4. Original paint or close to it, no full respray.
5. Un-modified
That’s the whole list, I didn’t care about drivetrain or options and I was surprised how hard it was to nail one down. A few months ago I talked myself out of a good truck on marketplace that checked all the boxes because the time wasn’t right and the owner eventually took it down. Thinking it sold, I regretted my decision as soon as it wasn’t available anymore. Surprisingly that same truck came back up for sale a few days ago from the same seller and I wasn’t willing to let it slip away again so I jumped on it. Messaged him on Thursday last week and Saturday it became mine. Once again @Turbo440Dart Chris, Troy, and myself loaded up the trailer and headed out. We did a turn around trip, So Cal to Phoenix and back 735 miles in one day to bring her home.
I don’t have big plans just yet other than some cosmetic changes, I really dislike the black grille, emblems, and trim, so I’ll be stripping that all down and I’ve already thrown all the LED lighting in the trash can and replaced it with original sealed beams/bulbs. She’s a 225 slanter and a 3 speed on the column (which according to my asshole friends has no chance of staying in the truck and they’re probably right) 8-3/8 rear with 3:55s that moves it along ok. Smokes a little on start up and sounds like a solid cam that’s been misadjusted. Manual brakes and steering, radio delete bare bones truck. The suspension and brakes are excellent, it’s quiet and smooth as glass with no rattling or weird noises as you drive. It’s perfect.

I’ll likely not do much to it in the near future except clean it up, strip some paint, and fix some dents. Then lower it a bit and drive it. I’ll get a few more pics over the next few days and post em up if you guys wanna see more.

Thanks guys, I can’t believe anyone would paint the TIN grille on a tin grille truck but rest assured I will bring her back to her tin grille glory.

Very nice. :thumbsup: My first new vehicle was a '74 PW, 318, 3-on-the-tree, PS & B, sb. I have kept an eye out for another over the years but they are hard to find unless you want to pay B-J prices, at least around here.

Very nice truck! My first truck was a D250,360/2-bbl./727/4.10 Dana. Paid $1,612.49 at Koller Dodge in Naperville. Ran 17.05 at 79.95 MPH. Maybe a 1/2 ton will find me one day.
Enjoy the new ride!

Nice truck! Congrats, I agree with shiny grill not black, personally I'd have to have a chrome front bumper to , but that's my taste, lol, if the 3 spd is a manual I'd convert to floor shift, 3 on the tree is fun for about a week, i know many would disagree but I'd leave the slant and add a cam, manifold, carb, and exhaust. With those gears it won't take much to move that little sweptline down the road! Keep us posted on the progress please. BTW, I hope you can get the black paint off those awsome sport mirrors, those things are like finding hens teeth!

I guess I should clarify, he painted every mounlding, trim piece, handle, emblem, bumper, and the grille flat black and ALL of it will get stripped. I agree with you about the bumper. As far as the slant 6 and 3 speed are concerned, it’s staying 100% stock. I will spend exactly zero dollars on modifications for it and just leave it alone until the time comes to decide what I actually want to do with this truck.

I certainly agree with your idea, drive it as is for a while untill you figure out exactly what mods YOU want, it's your truck now, enjoy it and good luck with all the black paint removal hopefully it isn't too much of a chore!

Knowing your fleet of vehicles, you NEED to keep the slant in it and just cruise it for a good while. Such a good truck, thanks for bringing me along for the trip. Oh and now those clear lenses it had are growing on me.

Thanks for being a passenger again. Yea, not just the fleet but how much of the fleet I need to finish before messing with the truck. It’ll stay stock for now. Unless the slant 6 dies. Then I’m gonna be calling you to help do a 2 day magnum swap.
