I'm in the process of changing out the 273 to a 360 and while the motor is out I'm going to paint the engine bay the same color as the exterior of the car. So everything from the engine bay has been removed along with the 273.

I cleaned all the head bolts, oil pan bolts, intake bolts, etc..... and while doing so I came across a clip that I cannot remember where it goes. I have separated and zip lock bagged all the bolts, fastners, washers, etc.. and have this clip left out by itself.

Anyone can jar my memory and tell me where the clip goes?

that looks like the clip that holds the brake light switch on the brake pedal

yep. that looks like it if it were a ford. ours has a unique bolt with an o-ring that gets a nut on the end of it.

but wait..........didin't you put a newer mc on??

You should start a contest and have Joey donate window stickers for the first correct answer! Post more parts!!!!!!!!!

Not to be a smart-***...but I'm finding this educational myself.... 8)

Thanks everyone.

I found it lying on the floor near my catch all coffee can. I know where everything else goes and can almost remember but it just not hit me yet.

I would but pretty soon everything has to go back on the car. LOL

I might find something else that I don't where the heck it goes.

Yeah but I didn't have to remove a clip like that any where.

Dang it I'm 38 yrs old and losing it!

I believe when I removed the clip I said to myself "Is that all that holds that on?"

Not certain but think i,ve seen it on the kickdown or trans linkagewith a washer holding a pivot point

I agree with DareDevel. It looks like the clip that holds the linkage onto the selector on the transmission. Here's a (poor) scan of a factory service manual.

BTW: Not to critize, but in the future please post these little do-dads next to a ruler. Helps with the diagnosis!

those clips in the pic are hairpins. isn't his car a 4speed? maybe holding the throttle cable to carb?

I heard you can get clips like those at Sears....hehe

You guys are on the right track, I think. It looks sort of like the kick down clip.Ruler idea is excellent.

Nice catch Steve... I checked his public profile and his car is a 4 spd.

Again, a ruler would have helped here. Hopefully someone provided the answer.

Yeah it's a 4-speed.

I guess I will find out eventually when I start putting everything back together. It's not part of the motor in any shape or form because I have took the intake on and off three different times. I have not taken anything loose on the suspension. Is it part of the wiper system? I know that I had to remove the wiper motor but it's connected to the wiper arms with a different type of clip/fastener.

I don't think its a clip at all. I think its a spring of some sort. Looks like it had a post up thru the coil in the middle and the bent end locked into something while the other pushed against something to provide spring pressure. I'm looking a two of them as I write this but can't tell you where they go on the car. I do know that they came out of the interior of a 69 Dart since thats what the baggy is labeled. Took all the interior out of mine to get it blasted and painted. Here is a pic (the car, not the spring/clip).

Is this even a Mopar part?

Cause I have been thinking randomly where that thing goes on my car and I can't come up with anything.

Did you take any of your parts off your door key locking and door latch apart.
Or does this spring hold your throttel petal on. :dontknow:

The doors handles have been replaced with new handles and hardware last year.

I have the entire throttle leakage from the throttle pedal to the carb packed up with the everything that holds it together. I use a small cotter pin to secure the throttle cable to the carb.:dontknow:

I cant place it either although I know I've seen it.
That design is actually a keeper or locking retainer Knifed through an offset hole in a housing and across a groove sort of like an O ring groove in the inner part to keep it from falling out.

lhearold,

I was going to get back with you on this but I got busy.

I would have to agree with you on it coming from the interior. Just guessing but do you think it has something to do with the vent box assembly? The door that closes and opens has came loose on my car and I took the rod out a while back because it was just flopping around.

Maybe it jumped out of a seat belt 8)

I see you have a 67 Fastback Fish.
If it has a fold down rear seat like my 68. Check the rear seat locking
mechanism see if your missing a spring from that.
There are some springs that look similar on the latch and the handle part. That's just by looking at the service manual diagram. Might not be what it is at all,but worth a look.
