Hey guys I was trying to find the numbers on my tranny.. It's colder then heck and I really didn't have the time to jack up the car. I'm starting to put my budget together for engine and tranny rebuild this year. If I give you the numbers off my build sheet can some one tell me what tranny I have? I threw in the other 3 just for verification. I know I have 2.73 gears found that tag when I rebuilt the brake system early last fall.. Any help would be greatly appreciated..

Should be a 904. The pan is basically square with one corner cut off. The 727 is not square and has a kick out in the pan under the dip stick tube area.

You don't have to jack up the car. Just lay down on cardboard, etc, on the passenger side, and look at the side of the pan. If it's straight along the pan, it's a 904. If it has a "bump" in the side, it's a 727

In picture below, transmission on left is 727, on right is 904

The reason I didn't want to jack the car up besides its cold, is because my big fat head wont reach far enough underneath to look past (get underneath) the headers to the tranny.. .....Don't that suck... I remember when I used to be called the kid...now I'm that old guy... LOLOL!! Thanks for all the info though, I'll dive under there maybe tomorrow and see which it is.. Hopefully I can get to the numbers, then maybe someone can actually give me what it is along with all the other happy stuff...
Thanks guys... This is the best forum!
