I just picked up a used Husky 60 gallon 7hp belt drive air compressor. I'm sure its not a true 7hp. Its 10.3 scfm @ 90psi. Label shows 240, 15 amp and is currently wired with the 4 prong plug shown below. I plan to use my 240, 30 amp dryer outlet, but the outlet is a 3 prong shown at bottom.

Question 1)
Is there any reason I can't just switch the compressor plug to a 3 prong to use my existing outlet?

Also, the compressor did not come with a valve, filter, or pressure regulator, Its jus plumbed with a quick release, pictured below.

Question 2) Any advice on what parts, (size, style, brand), I should use? Best place to purchase?

Thanks guys
-Rob

The 4 prong has common and ground prongs. You can hook them up to the L shaped prong on your 30a plug. Install any valve and filter you like with the correct threads and proper psi rating.

Lots of options depending on what you are going to do with the air; paint, tools, etc, from many manufacturers. Here's some:

And to plumb your shop, I recommend this, I use this kit all the time for work:

I would second the install kit. A friend bought a house with a nice commercial compressor installed. It was only 3 years old and the guy didn't want to move it. let him have it for $300. All the plumbing was schedule 40 PVC. Never thought anything about it until the dog knocked over a 1"x2" steel bar and hit the pipe. At 175psi in the line it does an amazing job of recreating a pipe bomb. There were pieces of PVC in the sheet rock 20 feet away. Dog pretty much stays out of the garage now.
