im gonna be ordering a set of hoosier 26x9x15 slicks

this is fine

i can get wheels 15x8 with 4.5 BS

this is fine

but id then have to switch to bias-ply front runners but can find rims in 4" sbp that are 4" wide... i can afford the nice wheels i want so i just want something that will work...

preferably dual drilled so when i got to LBP on the front i can use the rims...

what do you guys think? i was just gonna run steels on the rear but i havn't seen steels that narrow in a 15 for small bolt...

and wheel vintiques site is down... naturally...

thanks guys

you dont have to run bias ply front tires ! is that what you meant ??

ive used 165R15 front tires for years and years on a 15 x 4.5 weld wheel.

I agree...I have used 165R15 tires on the front for many years, no issues....except for knowing that I have VW bug tires on the front of my car.

well you cant mix and match radials with bias-ply tires...

there showing all the slicks (non dot) as bias-ply, and i have radials up front right now...

so i think i missed it lol...

Yeah, run the radials. The slicks, if you haven't used them, allow the rear end oft he car to move around more because of the sidewalls. So it can be an aquired taste when you let off at the stripe, but it goes where you aim it...lol. Radials are heavier and the alignment has more of an affect on things because of radials, but unless you're trailering or street driving with a lot of turns, you can mix and match.

did you mean not trailering?

and so i'll just get another set of steels for the rear and mount the slicks on those!

thanks guys!

I have a pair of slicks 26x8.5-14 on 14x8 crager ss mounted balanced screwed w/tubes if you thought about going with used, Im in payson send me a message if interested, Bob

I've been running radials up front and bias slicks out back on my Dart for many years. She goes straight as an arrow!!

14's huh... id rather stick with the 15's...

thank you tho!

You should be able to go with 27 or 28 on the rear. 26 is pretty small, unless you have high gears

well see my trap speed right now is 5K with 3.91's and a 28" tall tire and a 3400 stall converter...

when i was at vegas i had the same trap rpm with 26's so i need alot more gear to get the motor into the 5800 trap rpm...

so when i have the money it looks like 4.88's are going in it... i personally like a taller tire though

4:88 is to steep for most cars--unless your are only racing 1/8 mile with a tall tire(no street) , and/or you want to spin your engine to 7500.

the best all around gear , that allows different tire heights , street driving , and good ol leverage, is a 410 . in my opinion.....

i found 28x9's so im gonna run those! i like a tall tire.... looks alot better

i would have a chunk for the strip with 4.88's and a spool... i agree that 4.88's are alot but my car traps @ 5K with 3.91's and 28's...

i need to be trapping @ about 5800rpm... i dont know if a 4.56 will get me there or not...

ok--i see.

for reference, my dart had 28.5 x 11.5 MT tires with a 410 and trapped at 6200 .

yea see thats whats weird! with 3.91's i figured to be in the 5500 range... but like you said i would really hate to go with 4.88's and there to tall but cant afford to try both lol...

oops---sorry - i mis typed--i think it was around 6300-6400 or so with that setup

im talking 1/4 mile , not 1/8 .......

i have a great pic of 2 tires for comparison--i will post now -

28.5 x 11.5 Hoosier Qtp ?

and a new 29.5 x 10.5 Hoosier (the big one)--

if you are looking at tire sizes--you need to go to the tire makers website and read all the dimensions -- the photo above says it all.
