Need help I.D.ing this engine

I got this engine from a friends 76 D-100. These are the #s that I got off of it. Can someone tell me the info gained from these #s? I want to be sure what it is actually, be for it is put up for sale, whole or parts. Thanks for the help.

The numbers that will tell you what the engine IS are stamped on a pad on the block that sticks out just under and behind the alternator.

I think the only #s I found were these I've posted. The one with the punched #s is on a pad, at the top rear of the block, on right side (Passenger) just below the head. Alt. bracket is still there but, I'll remove it tomorrow & see, but I don't see anything in that area, unless there is a pad lower down, behind the alt. bracket that I can't see.
 
Should be a casting number with cubic inches similar to this and it appears that you have the last 6 of the vin 134413

That's what I thought, like a small or big block Chrysler, but I did not see anything. I'll look again tomorrow to be sure & take more pics. Could slant sixes be different? IDK. Thanks for the help on this.
 
The numbers you posted did not come from the pad I am talking about. Those stamped numbers are part of the VIN. You need to find the pad I am talking about, because the casting numbers don't always narrow it down, since some of the different slant 6 engines used the same casting numbers.

Got it. I'll look again tomorrow & maybe start taking more gingerbread off of the engine so I can have a better look. Thanks.
 
No need to remove alt bracket to see the number in question—it's on a little ledge-extension of the block deck, located below the frontmost spark plug, facing the sky, and just inboard of the alt/coil bracket. Shoot some brake or carb cleaner at that ledge and wipe it and you should find the numbers.

These are the numbers I got off that front pad. I guess I just did not see them. 8 EITHER 2 OR 3,25R 9 21 AGAIN EITHHER 2 OR 3 E. Maybe you guys know what the illegible number are.
