need insight to a-bodies

you probably need a good bearing at the end of your steering column,,that wil hold the shaft from wobbling,,the factory end plastic bushing is probably worn out or not even there,,i welded a bearing to the column that fit the shaft properly,,for my rack

Thats exactly the problem. The plastic bushing is beat to death. I dont think a new one will last to long in this set up though. Theres a lot more stress put on it in this case.

find a metal cased bearing that fits the outer shell of the column,,and has the same I.D. as the shaft weld it to the column thats what i did ,,dont remember where i got the bearing,,,then i covered it with a torsion bar boot

I wouldn't be surprised that A Bodies from 1960 to 1966 (Narrow bodies) have similar K frames and suspension. 1967 to 1976 A Bodies were wider. All A Bodies use the same length Torsion bars and I have used steering knuckles from 67 on a 64 A body. Some had sway bars but not all.
