I have a 727 trans with a manual shift body in it. The neutral safety switch was gutted and welded up to make a plug out of it. Is there a reason to modify the safety switch when you manual shift body in? thanks Jim

that's an interesting question - I too have a 727 w/a manual shift kit, but my neutral switch is fully functional.. which I consider a good thing. I'll be interested to read some answers to this..

I got 5 cars with manual valve bodies and they all use the Neutral Safety Switch....no reason not to use it....

about the ONLY thing I can think of is if you were running the car on a road course - would it be advantageous to be able to start it in gear if you stall it somehow.. ?

Even so no reason to remove and plug it. You could easily bypass it electrically. I wonder if "there's another reason," like maybe the threads were AFU in the case?

I have a manual VB and the NSS works just fine.

Thanks all for the reply's Now I feel better about running the NSS. They just gutted the NSS and brazed the end closed. I took 3 hrs to take it out, with all that braze running over the hex.just no room. This was one of those Why didn't I take it out when the trans was on the groung. Jim
