Anything is possible. Did you degree the cam when you put it in? If you don't want to pull it outright, check the lash, check the lifters, etc.

Since it's a new shortblock, I'd do a leakdown before anything else. Make sure you're not having ring seal problems (or you don't have a bent valve or something).

this may be the reason for lost et's , if the cam has 268 duration at .50 the advertised duration is about 306/308, if you look up the power range it should be around 4000 to 7200, to get a good low end you need at least a 5000 stall converter and around 456 to 488 gears.you are running to much cam for your setup. good luck Gary
