I am selling a new reman torque converter. It is a 1700 to 2100 stall advertised new. This is an internal balance converter. I bought this to go in my A-500 build but my trans guy used a flat drive system. It is new in the box never attached to anything. 170 obo plus shipping. The item is in Des Moines, Iowa 50316 Send a message if interested.

How would this compare to a stock converter and what would determine whether a buyer would get it to stall at 1700 vs what would it take to get it to stall at 2100?

The way I understand it. And I'm NOT very well versed on this. A 273 may stall at 1700 and a 318 or 360 more like 2000 or 2100. I could have that backwards. I think it's the torque that makes a diference but someone will come in and clean that up for us. It's supposed to be a lil bit better than factory with the lock up.

What the heck is a "flat drive system"?
I guess they used them on trucks. My transmission guy said these are stronger than the standard slot converter. If I got something wrong and there is a good chance I did someone can clean that up.

Yeah they went to flat spots on the outside of the converter to drive the pump instead of 2 slots as the pump drive some time in the 90s.

PS....I want it, have talked to the op by pm "just gotta come up with the scratch". My luck, someone will beat me to it

To be clear. This converter is the standard notch, slot style input to transmission.

Ok I rebuilt a 904 years ago, still have it unused, that when I went to put it in the dang convertor wouldn't fit the pump drive and I was told that this was because the tranny was a lock up convertor trans and that I'd need a lockup convertor for it. Is this what I would need for that?

Early 904 used 17 spline input, 68 and later used like 27, guessing the actual number. This converter will fit any 68 and new 904 but will only work correct in a lock up style transmission. 904 78 and newer, Any A-500. and work as intended.
