Well, I got my dart back together from this fiasco :

http://www.forabodiesonly.com/mopar/showthread.php?t=94752

so I could do some quarter mile racing at No Limit Dragway in Indiana. It was still tapping a little, but I turned the rev limiter down and hoped for the best.

Here's the video of the best pass. Sorry for the lull in the middle, Im not sure why dude kept me from staging.

Car has a lot more in it. This is leaving at 2500, and the converter goes way higher than that. Autozone front shocks, 670 Street Avenger with stock jetting, 30* total timing. I had to let off before the traps also. With my very conservative rev limiter I ran out of RPMs about 100-150 feet short of the stripe.

I just haven't been able to tune on it because I keep having stupid problems. On the next pass I launched the car at 2800. It blew the tires off, hit the rev limiter and then started running terrible, and super super rich. I think its something with the carb, as the valvetrain is still together.

Anyways, enjoy the vid!

Nice run, it sounds good, how do you like that 670 street avenger?

thanks!

The street avenger is awesome. I've had this carb for a couple of years. it was on a hotted up 302, the stock 318 in this dart and this current 5.9 engine. Ran very well on all of them, and literally until getting home from the track sunday, I had never had the bowls off of it or made any adjustment other than idle speed.

the car looks great! What did you change in the motor after it ate the pushrod? did you upgrade anything? i know jegs sells hardened steel pushrods for 50 bucks. also is your trans a regular 904? a low gear 99 might help the lauch. what did you shift at also?

1st. what rear tires are you running.

if they are NOT slicks or ET street/ QTP / drag radials,......you will never hook and its pointless trying to get a good ET or incrementals

Its got MT Drag radials on it. It went a 1.60 60' time leaving at 2500. It was only when I turned the RPMs up to 2800 that I had any traction problems (and I did kind of a crappy burnout on that pass). I'm hoping to get some 1.5x next time.

I tried to measure lifter preload, which is trickier than it should be and got some shorter pushrods. I replaced the damaged lifters, but there's tapping elsewhere, so I have ordered a complete new set of the Sealed Power units (the Mopar stock replacement Magnum lifters are JUNK). When I can get it to stop tapping I am changing the valve springs and *may* convert to stud mount rockers.

I do have the low gear set in the 904. Shift at 5700, just to be safe until I get some confidence about the valvetrain. The car is still pulling *very* hard at that RPM.
