I'm just curious about the new challengers that have the 6spd manual behind them as to if anyone knows much about them.

I want to put a new hemi into my valiant and plan on having a manual in it as well. I like the idea of the 6spd tremec and was wondering if anyone knew if this transmission was specific to the challenger only, or was it used in any other car/makes? If so maybe a model # would help.
We have 6speed tremec boxes out here in our Commodores (GTO's to you) but I believe there are all different varients of the tremec 6spds.

Bellhousings shouldn't be too big a problem - could source from quicktime as its probably easier then trying to source a factory one as the manual's are only a newish realease.

Anyone have any thoughts on this matter, cheers, Dave

Got mine out of a Viper but the T-56 is also available in Firebirds, Camaros, Vettes, Mustangs, GTO's (you knew that), and now the Challenger. There are some differences in the gearing between the different makes though, particularly 1st and 6th. You'll want to do some research, I thought I had a site with the different gearings but I can't find it now. If I do I'll post it. I'm putting one behind my 5.7 Hemi that will eventually be stroked, should be a sweet combo.

Yeah I figured ratio's might be different (something to look into) basically if I can find a gearbox of the same model number or style it may make it easier to source, even possibly over here! What year/model viper did you get your transmission out of?

What are you going with in terms of ecu for your hemi 5.7 with that transmission?

Cheers, Dave

I picked up a 96 GTS gearbox. The thing I like about the Viper is it has a .5 gear ratio for 6th.

Haven't settled on an ECU yet. I'm hoping I can find one in a yard somewhere but the problem is, I believe I can't use one that came off an engine with an auto. That might prove to be a problem and I may have to go with an AEM or FAST. Haven't decided yet for sure.
