What a difference the sniper makes over my old Edlebrock carb! The engine finally "woke" up! It idles smoother and has super quick throttle response. However I will likely change out the throttle linkage to a progressive link but this thing is fun to drive!!

To be honest, I never tweaked the carb much when I bought the car knowing that I wanted to replace the carb anyway but holy cow the Sniper makes this car run strong!

I'm also pleased with the new dash. It's nice to have all the instruments working for a change! Also nice to have a tach in-dash. The shop had to install a push button start so the Holley would work proper. The Mopar ignition switch has a tiny gap in the switch when you turn the key from "on" to "start". This gap would reset the Sniper when you tried to start the car.

Finally, the shop installed a throttle kick down assembly for me. Now the transmission shifts like it's suppose to. However I still plan on replacing it wth a Tremec 5 speed this fall or winter.

Very nice install on both pieces. How many problems did you have with the initial tuning of the EFI?

Keep us posted o the learning curve of the Sniper. I'm toying with going EFI on my bracket car, but am still on the fence.

Did they use the Holley in tank pump for the OEM tank?
Yes. They did change a few other minor parts during the install but I'd have to look it up on the invoice to see exactly what was done. They told me that they like to do more of a "custom" install rather than use all the Holley supplied parts.

May want to look at throttle extension rather than progressive linkage. I’ve had both (well, made the extension as I needed it to be a shaped a little different to fit my throttle cable better) and although I had to slightly modify my gas pedal to get full travel it retains the quickness better I thought.

That's good to hear. I'm curious why you had a shop do the install? What'd they charge??
The reason I had the shop do all the work is because:

A. I'm not all that mechanically astute. I "can" tweak a carb using a vaccuum gauge, I can change plugs, jets, rods, etc but that's about it.
B. This shop specializes in Sniper installs and tuning.
C. They also did the dash cluster and a lot of other tweaks and fixes for me.

Total cost for all I had done including the cost of the guages and Sniper system was around $10k. The original estimate was closer to $8k but like I said, there were some other issues with the car that needed addressing. The cost of just the Sniper install and tune, including adding a fuel pump, return line, etc. was about $1800 not including the unit itself.

It adds up fast and most guys don’t realize that as well as you gotta pay the working man a reasonable days wage. Others pound there chest saying I’ll do the work. I say good for them. Not everybody is mechanically inclined or have space to do this in.

I say good for you and enjoy that bad *** ride!

Thanks! I appreciate the guys who can do it all themselves and often wish I had the mechanical skills. I'm more of the creative type. I was a video/tv producer/director before I retired. I can make things look good but I can't always fix them . ;)

A man's gotta know his limitations. The problem with me is, I refuse to acknowledge mine.
That’s funny! I like that. I also have the same issue and Man-O-Man I can tell you my mechanics used yell at me, “What-Da-Fuuuu did you do?!?! Holy J-Zeus-crap-OLA!”
“What kind of crapsh#%$!\{~* is this?!?!”
“BOB! FOR THE UM-TEENTH TIME! RIGHTY TIGHTY LEFTY LUCY!!!”
Proud graduate of the school of hard knocks! Cost a lot of money, but….. you learn.

Do you know by chance what they did for your kickdown? Retain the factory system or go with a Cable setup? You didn't waste anytime ditching the Carb and going FI..... Good for you...

They used the factory kick down. They were more confident with it. I sent the cable back for a refund. I knew when I bought the car that I would go EFI so yeah....I didn't waste any time ;). Next up on the list of impovements is I orderd two resoniators to be installed to help with the dreaded "2000 rpm drone". After that, sometime this fall or winter, I'll swap out the tranny to a Tremec 5 speed and add a little sound deadening to the interior.

I am confused lol.... I didn't see the Throttle body pics (getting old sux) before I posted the question but that pic looks like a TV cable and not the factory setup. You are doing what my plan is when I get the ol' girl back together ( I have the Sniper, Hyperspark, Intank setup already) and have been running which way to go through my mind recently in regards to the Kickdown setup...

Thnx,
JW

You are correct....it's a TV cable...my bad!

It's all good lol.... Do you know by chance which system they went with and is it working properly. I have the Bouchillon kit but am hesitant about using it....

Unfortunately I don't know. All the invoice says is "kickdown cable" at a cost of $187. It works great.

I kept the factory kickdown but had to modify the pivot support and the bracket on the throttle body.

Resonators really do work to reduce the drone. I used Flowmasters 15150S on my TTI exhaust on my 6.1 hemi Cuda and they worked great.
