I guess it has to be the 3.92 gears and 4 wheel drive and don't forget only the 5 speed auto.
 
I went out of my way to find a heavy truck, with a gas engine.
I am just not a diesel fanatic in a pickup truck, drove too many of them at my previous job.
Totally get it, its bot for everyone and yes the cost for repairs is higher. Please don't get me wrong the 6.4 is a strong hemi.

I have never had any issues with running out of power with the 6.4, it just fit my needs better.
It sits most of its life, I bought it new, just turned over 25K miles in 7 years, so I most likely will never wear it out.
Heck I only put 1500 miles on it last year.
It just gets used for truck stuff, not daily driving.
 
My race me is perfect plug in and delete and go, has setting you can change on the go, street and performance and race, I keep mine on performance its all I need. Plus comes with a windshield mount to use as gauges and be able to change tunes
 
The kits are easy. Finding a good local tuner is the hard part. Epa is ******* those.
I have my old DTRB programming tool around here somewhere. Probably need to purchase the latest software for it though.

Do the kits not come with a tuner of some kind?
 
Looking at possibly buying a new or newer Cummins truck, or possibly considering a Powerwagon with the Hemi.

4x4, quad cab/mega whatever it’s called now a days.

Really wanting a manual, which means if I go that route, I can go no newer than 2018. Which I’m okay with. But curious what real world mileage you all are seeing with either the Hemi or Cummins?

My 99 24 valve could push 19 highway/city average unloaded, 13-14 pulling a trailer and 16k pound tractor. If the newer ones aren’t at least in line with that, looking at just spending 10k to have the Cummins rebuilt and another 5-8 to have it repainted professionally. This is better than the 50-85k I’d be looking at in a newer truck.

I am kind of tall and that body style of the 94-02 is one of my favorite trucks for interior comfort. The quad cab doors suck in parking lots with another vehicle next to you, but otherwise great trucks. I'd be fixing up the old one.

Yeah it’s not going anywhere. It’ll eventually get redone. Question is now or later. I’m leaning hard to the now. Just don’t have the time to do it myself with all my other projects on going. I’m gonna check with a local guy and see what it’d cost me to have him rebuild it. Long time and trusted friend
 
I got a 2018 Cummins 2500, it's like 12-14 city, bout 20 freeway, 10-14 towing
I had a 2016 6.4 2500, was about 10-12 city, 18 freeway, 8-10 towing
 
I also went through two 6.4 engines in 3 years before getting the Cummins, guess I was over working them
 
I have an ‘02 2500 Cummins Quad Cab long bed. Automatic. I’ve never been impressed with its lousy towing capacity and lack of power. but it does have 330,000 miles. I got it at 100,000 miles 8 years ago. It’s been very reliable, however I’m ready for a newer 2500 or 3500. I’m also really looking for a manual transmission this time.

You will have to find a manual trans truck used, they quit making them new.
Two years ago, I was wanting to buy a cab-chassis diesel, manual. dealer said no way.

Averaging just under 19 mixed city and highway. That is doing the math, not using the calculator in the truck. Truck says just over 19.
