Sweet!

That's because Dave is a total wiz with a hemi and he built both engines and they are both running the same cam now. Jim Seiler and I built his engine in his F.A.S.T., 4 speed, 1-4bbl Dart. Runs awsome but we are having troubble with clutches!! I think he popped a head gasket this weekend running old gas at MIR. Sucks!!!

Check him out!!! The video of the T5 copper colored Dart.

Dudeks Black Road Runner, laid down the smack,a few years back in Hot Rod.A 3 way shootout, pure stock with slicks allowed.Knocked off a GS455,then laid waste to a L88 Vette. That,is real racing!

AdamR, do you know what fuel they run in this class ?
Just think, in 1968 bone stock, gears was changed but all was running 12's, just one second in 33 years from the factory Dart.

The car is an original H code (383) 4 speed Dart. The car holds the record et and MPH for B engine. I think it ran a best of [email protected] The run we have a movie from was not it's record run. They allow aftermarket blocks now but the rules used to say that you can us another engine block as long as it is if the same manufacturer of the car, same material (cast iron), and looks the same but you are open to whatever internal modifications you wish but they want the engine to try to sound stock as possible (mechanical cam noise is ok). The biggest B engine was the 400 so that is what we built. The car is totally legal and runs the factory air cleaner with a K&N element, worked factory carb, stock but worked 301 intake, 906 heads, and factory dated exhaust manifolds with an exhaust no bigger than 2.5 inches. Here is the crazy stuff, 510 CID,14.5-1 compression ratio, .800" Lift (not a typo) Jesel rockers, 7/16 taper wall Jesel pushrods, Isky EZroll lifters, 55mm cam journals, and LOTS of stuff I am leaving out. The engine made 585hp and 590ft lbs on Duane Porters dyno. We are having problems with clutches. You need something that can slip on the line and still hold. We have smoked a dual friction, and a Mcloud so far this year. Then got new tires and the new ones even shaved down are junk without time on them to break the sidewalls down.

I dont know if there is a spec fuel but for the stock class they lest them run 1.5 extra points of compression for some reason.

Most are running VP C12 C16. We run C16 and are going to experament with the Q16 oxygenated stuff soon and I know Dave already uses it.

Thats the FAST class though, What about the stock guys ? Im guessing most of them are running race fuel also ?

He probably uses Q16 due to the fact that it is oxygenated and will generate 4-5% more hp than non oxygenated C12 and C16 fuels. It's legal race fuel and in F.A.S.T. and pure stock, you get your power where you can!! In Jimmy's big block and if it's true, Q16 will take him over 610hp with a jetting change and no more!!

So you are Joe, I have heard alot about you from Jim. Don't let him get discouraged, everybody breaks something at some point. He will get it.

That is me! I try but I can't help him as much as I used to and I feel horible about it. I have bought a house over an hour away from him that needed a ton of work and have 2 little girls now. That and trying to work on my own car gets crazy!! I try to keep him with the 4 speed but he is gettin tired of wrenching by himself and replacing clutches. He had the dual friction in it and smoked it so bad the friction material flew off the clutch on the top end at Lebanon valley. Then he put an extremely expensive dual plate clutch in that will hold the power but it dosn't slip on the line. Now he has a McLeod in it and I have a feeling that one is half shot. I know he really wants to put an auto in the car now. I should have my new place setup with a small machine shop for building engines, transmissions, and rears this winter but it is far from ready right now. I don't have a lift or car storage for him or I would hook him up if I could. I should be able to build him a trans and fix the engine a bit later in the year instead of working in his basement.

As soon as that engine was picked up it went on a dyno over here.. We picked up a ton of power, my cam and valve springs made the biggest improvement, along with a few other changes, we got her to run the way she`s running today. The engine was completely rebuilt before it actually went into Rick`s car. Super nice engine before and after.

Welcome to FABO Dave!!!

So cool that you stopped in and explained the situation. That thread has been lingering a while, and now we now the true story.

You are the "FAST" Man when it comes to Mopar's. :D

cool, what race track was this ran at and what was the weather

My 10.95@127 was at LVD in NY. The temp was in the 80's. I believe Rick ran 11.teens that same day.

Rick ' s 10.92 was at MIR in the fall, temp was upper 60's. I was at home for this race getting a Chemo treatment.

Hi, Dave. I cannot imagine what you guys do to accomplish this...........but is this actually "stock" (IE NHRA, etc) or is this in the FAST program?

Or to put it another way, exactly what class do these run in?

Either way it's certainly cookin. I'm an old guy in N. Idaho, was second owener of a '70 V RR back in the days
