I dropped in on the Saratoga Classic Car Show on Sunday. Pretty nice venue (they sell beer and wine!). If you subtract all the Camaros, Mustangs, tri-5s and Corvettes, they still had probably 100 cars, although Mopars were somewhat scarce (one nice Dart GTS representing A-bodies). I didn't enter because I didn't want to be trapped there all day, and anyway the 'vert was still covered with bugs from my run to Bend, OR last weekend.
On that subject, after putting in 8 quarts of oil on the round trip (could have used 10 but I ran out), I have come to the conclusion that the slanty needs rings in the worst way. As this is my daily driver, I didn't want to take it off the road while going over the whole engine, as it deserves, but a fellow Barracuda owner volunteered a 90K 1968 225 up in Sonoma, "ran when pulled". I'm just trying to figure out how to fetch it. U-Haul at $1/mile is a little pricey starting from the South Bay. My plan was to swap in the 68 motor, using my carb and accessories, after a quick clean-up. The original would be added to the carport decor (along with my 273 Commando) until I had time for a rebuild project, which could be a while. Yeah, I toyed with the idea of dropping in the Commando (which belongs to my fastback, in paint purgatory), but the idea of swapping trannies, motor mounts, linkages, radiator, etc. quickly put me off it.
