Hello everybody. I just found this site yesterday and figured I'd join up.

I have a 73 Duster Twister that my father bought in 73 with around 6000 miles on it. He said it scared him to death because the payments were $75/month. Now it mostly sits in my garage.

I'm planning on having it mostly restored this year since I don't have the knowledge or skills to do it myself. It was originally a Petty Blue color (is that Sky Blue?) with white interior, but now has black seats and a slightly darker paint since the color didn't quite match like it was supposed to. My father had the seats recovered back in 94 when my brother took it to college because he didn't want to spend the extra money on replacing all the door panels since, at the time, they were in half way decent shape. I say mostly restored because I'm planning on getting the whole thing reworked, but I don't care about date correct parts and things, as long as it works.

It has a 225 with 904 transmission and my original dream was to have this one restored with the 225 in it and then get another car to have as the fun 340 or larger motor car. Well, my job is a good one, but not quite good enough to have another play car and the house to support it, so my current plan is to replace the 225 with a 340. The guy restoring my car recommended a 340 crate from Mopar Performance, but said it would be around $10k, which seems a bit much for me, so I will probably be asking for help locating a rebuildable 340 sometime in the near future.

Welcome, looks like a good car to start with. Being it was your Dads makes it pretty special.
A 360 will be a whole lot easier to find and probally cheaper to get then a 340.
But the 340 has always been my dream too.
Good luck!

Welcome! been here a short time myself but have found a lot of great people, and learning a lot .........kinda like taking a drink from a fire hydrant! Welcome aboard!

I thought briefly about getting a 360 and it just seems like a 340 should go in since that was what was available that year. Maybe it is kind of contradictory to the type of restoration that I'm going to have done, but, hey, why not? :)

Welcome to FABO! I've just had a 340 built, and it was definitely the more expensive route than a 360. Good looking Duster though. Are those the 2nd gen Barracuda scoops on there?

I don't know. Those are just the scoops that came on it. I always figured those were the ones that came on the 340 Dusters that year since it is a Twister model.

Welcome from Thomasville. Lots of great info and really smart guys that are willing to share ideas. Great looking ride.
