poly or plain rubber?
it's a street driven 9 second car, gets about 70 miles a month on it and about 12 1/4 blasts a month.....
Right now all stock but when I do a 2-3 wheelie when it lands it all over the place,feels loose........
Everthing is ailighned pefrect (for drag racing) so I was thinking new front end stuff

Poly may slow down your weight transfer. I would use rubber every were but the strut rod bushings.

Tim,

Rubber will restore your car to factory performance. Polygraphite is an upgrade - the firmer bushings have less deflection which leads to better, more predictable handling. Poly gives you better road feedback but can be a little bit harsher ride - but in a 9 second car, I don't think you're too worried about that!

The other benefit of Polygrahite is longevity - they will last much longer than rubber. Your wheelies may beat up a rubber bushing but the poly will take it just fine.

We have both rubber and Polygraphite kits available - most of our customers go with Polygraphite because they are looking for an upgrade rather than just a stock replacement. It comes down to personal preference.

Moog is one of our suppliers and they do not make all of their parts in America. Many of their parts are made in Taiwan, Mexico, Canada, etc.

All of our Polygraphite® bushings are made in America. Many of our ball joints, idler arms, center links, tie rod ends, and pitman arms are made in America also, but we use many different sources and stock over 70,000 different part numbers so it is impossible to tell if any particular kit we sell is 100% American-made. We make sure that all of our parts meet or exceed OE specs.

For sure, - polygraphite !! It will give better handling, firmer feel. Just did my '62 car, man what a difference . I'll never do another with stock rubber replacements again, never..I bought mine from 'Just Suspension', nice guys, and I had my stuff two days later. All Yeah, the old rumor about the poly squeeking........not on this new stuff, it's just a rumor, no squeeks....

Polygraphite® is PST's exclusive, graphite-impregnated urethane - the only place you can buy Polygraphite® is through PST. Just Suspension probably carries a different brand. :thumleft:

I did a PST, polygraphite kit on my Cuda years ago and there still holding up fine. (OK, break my balls, I haven't driven the car is 6 years, but they kit was installed an easy 7 years prior to that and driven on for that many years.)
The kit was done by my mechanic (To save time/ not money) and he thought it a preety good deal.

It really brought the car back to life, tighten the car up and felt great.

I would and do recomend this kit to everone. Loved it!

i do not like the poly strut rod bushings. especially for a drag car.
 
they really tighten up thefrontend, almost like binding. i am not the first person to say this. you arent going to get the quick rise and wieght transfer you get with rubber. my front end on my 69 dart got so stiff fro mthem that with /6 bars and 90/10 shocks, i couldnt bounce it any more than an inch by hand.
 
I have a friend with a very nice 73 cuda that he used poly when he restored the car. He has a 70 something dart for his wife and he is going all rubber on that one. For some reason or another he does not like the poly... he called it "junky s--t!"

When I rebuild the front end of my cuda I'm going with rubber but my car isn't a drag car either if that makes a difference.
 
id go with the poly upper bushings. thats probably it. no one i have ever talked to likes the lower control arm poly bushings, those i have used and havent really had any problems. it is a wierd setup though.
 
Most people that complain about poly say they squeak. Graphite impregnated bushing should squeak like un lubed poly though.

The complaint about the lower bushing was that they fit loose and would fall out. Thats probably because you need to remove the inner shell and bushing from the lCA and reuse the out shell, then press the new bushing in to that. Most guys have the old rubber bushing pressed out and stuff the new poly bushing in, put it in the car and wonder why it handle worse then before.

Been there, done that, went back to rubber, LOL
 
I did a whole pst kit on my 72 'Cuda 340 and was very, very happy with it.
The high speed handling was incredible compared to rubber. A friend with
a sport volvo drove it and couldn't believe how well it handles. Been on the
car for over 10 years now and I don't have it any longer but the new owner
loves it.

When I did the rear suspension on my dart I put poly in the shackles and are
running stock rubber in the leaf spring fronts, seems to work pretty well.

I'll probably run the poly in the front for a couple of reasons, poly is highly
resistant to any chemicals and won't break down, and even ozone etc doesn't
harm it like stock rubber. Getting a little long in the tooth and really want to
just do the job once and be done with it forever.

I needed an idler arm and a tie rod end was shot - other then that everything held up great - I had all poly - except - lower control arms, and bump stops - guess what was shot after 17,000 miles? you got it - the lower control arm bushings and bump stops -

Side by side of the poly and rubber - I was hesitant until i saw how much more bushing surface is on the lower control arm pivot. The rubber also has a bind inherent in the LCA - its got to be set at ride height before tightening or you ruin it before you ever get the car out of the garage -

all poly for me from now on!

you would not believe how much they help. put them on a friends road runner and couldn't believe how easy the suspension moved with that set up compared to a stock set up.

yeah i have both the strut rods and upper arms. i never installed them. im probably going to put them on the duster. actually i had bill bring them down to the carbque, thats how long ive been sitting on the stuff. as soon as i realized the strut rod bushings were binding, i was sold on bills stuff. i have no issues with the factory upper arms, providing you can get a good alignment with them. i dont really know how much the binding poly strut rod bushings will hurt your performance and ride, i just dont like it. if you put all poly front end on a coil spring gm it wouldnt bind it up like that.

anybody have a copy of how to make an a-body handle? dont know exactly what it is called. but the author pretty much tells you what it took for him to get his car to handle, and if i remember right it did involve poly. i was warned by a front end guy years ago about poly on strut rods causing them to break....for what it is worth....:read2:

googled for the book, could not find it. it is in the bomb drop area (garage) when i find it iwill post its name.....
 
All 5 of my cars have been redone with poly bushings, new xhd springs and sway bars. I like a firm ride and good handling which was achieved without spending a small fortune. No issue with squeaks.
