Hello guys and gals,

Just wanted to say hello, never owned a Mopar before, but have been wanting one for several years. I finally bit the bullet this past weekend and drove up to Streetsboro OH where I met a fella named Steve. He's a member of this site, smcarnut. I picked up his 71 Duster, super clean car in need of a power plant, trans, and a lot of other parts to complete it. Hopefully there are some folks here that can help me fill the gaps as I move through the build, attached a couple pics for your viewing pleasure.

Looking for a 440 with a steel crank to power it, picking up a rebuilt 727 from a guy in TN next weekend. Been reviewing some threads here in my spare time, which ain't much lately. Look forward to chatting it up with y'all in the coming months, seems there are quite a few knowledgeable sources here that can help me with my build. I'll post another thread with the direction I want to take this car in.

Good to meet y'all.
Scott

Welcome! I work in Fuquay so not far from you at all. May even have a core engine. Hoping to have one built soon myself.

The guy I bought the car from, Steve, said there is an engine builder here in NC that builds only Mopar engines. Anyone have any idea who that is, he's a member on this site. Any info is welcome...thanks!

Welcome!!!! Love the 71 Dusters! Looks like a real solid Mopar!!! Keep us posted.
Remember, what we don't know, we just make up!
No just kidding!

Welcome aboard. Great starting point. I have a soft spot for 71s as I have 2 of them. Give it time and you will too

Welcome to FABO!!

You're going to have a blast building your Duster!!!

Yes, I'm chomping at the bit to start working on it. Finishing one project in a few weeks. Trying to get the big parts I'm missing for it right now, engine and trans.

He might be referring to me, although there are plenty of qualified machine shops in NC. Just send me a PM if I can help!

I will reach out, thank you. Where are you located in NC? I'm south of Raleigh in Wake county.

That's only a couple hours away, not bad. I'm searching facebook market for an engine. Likely a short-block if possible, with a steel crank. I'm still researching heads, cams, and intake options so it all goes together and works well.

Do you happen to have anything you're working on that I may be interested in? I can give you info on what I'm looking to do with the car as it relates to the engine's performance.

I have lots of parts, and some core blocks

I'd be interested in speaking with you in more detail about the build. Are you open to me driving down one weekend, or would you prefer to get a better understanding of what I'm looking for out of the engine first?

Send me a PM, I'll give you my number, and you can call me, we can discuss your goals and options.

Replicaracer43, Built a 340 for me, I have almost 3k miles on it. It runs really nice. I did a cruiser build but this thing has some nice snap to it. Highly recommend him.

Thanks for the kind words, but per our conversation this morning, I believe hes decided to buy a engine off the internet instead of having it built personally. He indicated he thinks a internet engine will be cheaper. I have no idea if that's gonna be the case, since our discussion never got to price. Regardless, I wish him nothing but the best on his project. It's a cool *** duster for sure
