Hi everybody-

I've been on the FBBO site for a while after I bought my Belvedere, but this is my first time on THIS site.
Was driving back from my daughters house last week and saw this 66 Barracuda on the side of the road. Stopped to look and it didn't seem to be in bad shape. No one was home at the time, so I sent a pic to my son who lives near there, and asked him if he wanted to look at it.
Price seemed OK, so he went a couple days later and he liked it too. Anyway, we ended up splitting the cost and we're going to bring it home Monday. It's a 273 with a 904, starts and runs, a little smoke, but the odometer reads 88K (188K?) and I want to put a 360 in it anyway. Body seems pretty straight, without a lot of rust or crappy body work. Kinda excited, and no idea what it's going to be like when I tear into it. No idea if I got my pants taken down (I'm pretty impulsive and that's pretty typical). Bigger wheels and tires as soon as possible. More pics after I pick it up and get a closer look at everything. Thanks for adding me!

...unless you want gas mileage.

You and your son have a whole new world opening up in front of you! Enjoy the ride and welcome.

Welcome to the forum
Couple years ago I saw one like that appear in the guys driveway. After driving by it and stopping to see if somebody was home with no luck I finally gave up. About six months later it was gone so I stopped again and this time somebody was home. They said they traded it for a pick up truck and it had a v8 but he didn’t know if it was original. I’ve never seen it again

This sounds like a fun build. You got the right idea with bigger tires and a 360.
But lookout, a 360 is a whole lotta motor for these Cars to handle.

I would keep it as is, make it dependable and drive the hell out of it.. good looking car :)

4K. He was asking 5. Jumped in and drove it home.
4K?! are you kidding me.....that's an insane deal... I would still rebuild anything mechanical to keep it sound and use it as a driver though instead of modding. That's a smoking deal..

Hang on.. just noticed you are in michigan with me.... does it still have floors and a frame?

No holes in the floor or supports that I can see so far. Rear quarter has about a 1" hole behind the tire. Some bubble rust on the other side, but for a MI car, I was pretty surprised. Interior underneath that giant window is smoked, and there has been some water intrusion or condensation- smells kinda mildew-y. Doesn't seem to have a lot of dough on it, but you know how that goes.
At one time, someone had fogged a coat of **** paint over the original, and it is turning to dust. I'm going to try to polish it off as I can see what's really under it.

Nice, looks like a good project.. at least you can buy interior pieces for it :) And a ozone machine will get rid of the mildew smell
