Hello all. I am new to the board and would like info for a certain question. Has anyone ever converted a 2dr hardtop valiant or dart to a convertible? I've looked all over but couldnt find any info. I noticed rust bubbles under my vinyl top and removed it, to my surprise im wondering why my rear window hasnt fallen through yet. Any info will be greatly appreciated. Car in question is a 1972 Plymouth Valiant.

It has been done. I remember reading an article on it in the past but also remember it saying that it was a lot of work. Also, take into consideration finding the donor parts you will need. Now, if you are talking about a non-functional Valiant roadster, I can come on over with my Sawzall. ;) Are you in the City (SF)?

not a roadster, but after seeing the damage, i had an idea to cut the roof off and go topless. I feel this car would be a real cool vert'.

get the frame connector set up and installed first. then hack away. if you dont stiffen it up b4 you cut it it will break in half id suggest that you go get a donor car and reroof it.its almost as easy as cutting the roof off. GOOD LUCK DUDES yer gunna need it.

There are a heck of a lot of differences in a factory vert. Verts have torque boxes on the frame, cut away rear wheel wells, on and on. It's been done but you would need a vert as a donor car.
I'd say just put a roof skin on it
I seriously dislike vynil tops because of the damage they did to so many cars.
