New Michelin Tires... Look for 'em soon.

These tires are made in South Carolina , USA .

SEE THROUGH TIRES - radical new tire design by Michelin.
The next generation of tires. They had a pair at the Philadelphia car show.
These tires are airless and are scheduled to be out on the market very soon.
The bad news for law enforcement is that spike strips will not work on these.
Just think of the impact on existing technology:
A. no more air valves...
B. no more air compressors at gas stations...
C. no more repair kits...
D. no more flats...
These are actual pictures taken at the South Carolina plant of Michelin.

Those are called Tweels. The concept has been around several years now. They are different to say the least.

I don't like them, and I especially don't like the "no more air compressors at gas stations"

I would think that snow could get packed in these tires and really throw them off balance.

I hope I am never forced to run a set on my car, however I think they will be great for cars that are stored. It would make life a lot easier for people that have parts cars or a larger collection of cars that do not get driven. It seems everytime I go visit my cars I spend 2-3 hours going around airing up tires so the car don't look so bad sitting neglected!

i cannot imagine the price tag on them

" whatup dizzo, i gotz the realz dubbs yo"

I saw those tires on a car in California a few years ago at a show not for sale. I think it will be a while before anyone will buy those tires.

I wanna see that design try and work on a Top Fuel or Funny Car - don't think those spokes are gonna hold up to 8000HP.
