I bought an OER turn signal switch ($75) from Summit for my '67 notchback Barracuda and went to install it only to find the light bulb assembly will not fit. The bulb housing hits the new plastic switch making the top screw hole lineup for the bulb no good. Anybody else have this problem? It should fit first time!!!! I've done a few of these over the years and never had a problem. I went back to the old switch and it fits just fine.

Just the way things are now, unfortunately! I've been rewiring my gf's VW bus . Got everything done and now have issues with headlights after replacing the headlight relay and switch. Sucks!

This is where you use your imagination, like the old hot-rodders.
If it isn't made, - this is what I've got, - how do I make it work ?

Make sure all the lites work as they should, - before you make any alterations that may void returning it .

Good luck .

We find that reproduction parts don't live up to the expectations that we have considering the quality of the part that we are replacing. A lot of them (reproduction parts in general) suck. This is why some have decided to reproduce parts on their own. If they're gonna put their name on it and put their reputation on the line, they want to control the quality. Vans Auto is a good example. The parts they have reproduced are better quality from my experience because that's what they demand. Others, not so much.

I'm thinking that switch is made for a console shift car that wouldn't need the illumination bulb for the gear select indicator.

Heres the modification needed to make it fit.

Doesnt the wire/bulb/socket, pull outta the metal holder with screw hole.
Can't you just pull bulb etc outta the new "holder" to replace it with the original holder that fits ?

I should not have to modify anything if the part is worth its weight! I also have another problem, the horn beeps when I turn the steering wheel. The black wire is not pinched or grounded. Something is out of spec. I put the old one back in and it works just fine except it won't cancel on left turns (original problem). Seems every time I get OER it's not quite right... cheap Chinese junk!

Classic Industries is a garbage company selling garbage parts.

"OER" is a fraudulent bit of branding/marketing; it's supposed to stand for "original equipment replacement".

I am out of '64+ switches and down to my last couple of '62-'63 switches. Same switch, just different style of terminal on the ends of the wires.

As far as I can tell, there are no adequate-quality switches readily available. X-(

There are still NOS switches out there that have been stored away for years, you just have to shell out $350 / $400 for them. It's so nice when you swap one in and they work perfectly the first time.....

I bought one of Dan’s turn signal switches after buying a piece of crap reproduction switch.

Dan’s switch is way better than the reproduction switches available that do not cancel after a turn and you have to manually cancel then it you end up clicking to the opposite side and you’re fighting with this damn switch your entire drive, side to side…

I believe Dan’s switch is made by a South American Chrysler supplier. If I remember correctly it fits with the column shift indicator light but the location the wires come out of the switch vary from the original location so what I did was wrap the wires around in the steering column the opposite direction of what the factory did. The switch is very good quality. Way better than the current reproductions in which you are constantly battling the damn switch because it won’t cancel.
