New Red 340 air cleaner pie tins avalible @ summit racing.

I've got a nice orange one like new in the box and ordered a couple red ones for extras just incase they all become unavailable. Glad to hear they will be remade because there is definitely people looking for them.

I got one on backorder at Classic Industries. I'm not sure what I'm going to get. It will come with my seat covers that take 6 months to make.

i ordered mine in June and got it in October. Must be the last of the order. If you need one grab it!
Parts are drying up and it seems manufacturers are not re-popping until there is a large demand, if
at all. Were 68 and 69 the only years that were red?

The Summit site indicates that red is correct for 1967-1968 and orange for 1969-1971. Funny thing is that years ago I bought a 1970 340 intake and air cleaner with plate that was left from a guy’s 1970 340 Duster. The plate was red.
I don’t know if his Duster was an early production car for that year.

I'm surprised a lot of parts for our era of cars are still being produced at all. I think it'll keep getting worse until all we can find are with private sellers.

I have to disagree with a '69 being orange, here is a picture of my '69 Dart from back then, it's red, and I remember it being red. Having said that, I have argued with people that say the '69 340 was red or blue, not Turquoise. Maybe a red left over from '68, but blue?

Orange painted engines had the orange pie tins? Blue or turquoise had red? Just wondering.

And does the red ones turn orange with heat and age? I believe they are silk screened and the paint is not all that thick.

It's possible. Just basing it on a red one I have which is extremely aged. It's certainly more like the R6 red paint color VS the oranger R4.

I have an air cleaner assembly from a 1970 340 Duster and the tin is red. The previous owner sold the car long ago but couldn’t remember the assembly date of the car. It very well could have been a surplus ‘69 pie tin used in early production of the ‘70 model.

Y'all realize how easy it is to swap a pie tin, or get the wrong one and use it anyway. Unless you saw the car on the lot then who knows how it got there?

It's very easy to swap them, but it's not like they are cheap right now. If someone wants the correct one, why pay through the nose twice?

I'm talking about back when these cars were everywhere in the early days. These folks saying their 1970 came with a red one, well it was a used car, not off dealer lot.

I just ordered a 340 pie tin from Jegs because they said they were available on their website. Perhaps it was my lucky day. A few days later my order showed as backordered so I called them. They claim they are not discontinued and have them on order but with no ETA (not sure what the difference is). I cancelled the order. I had one on order with Classic for a year too.
