Last year the wife and I decided to buy a new house. We found one right down the road from her parents house. Having lived in the city, this house has 1.6a of land. We have lived here for a little over a year and decided to build a garage. Decided on 40x48 pole building. It's far from done but after removing about 15 trees and some fill, here is what I got so far.

Nice looking shop.

Love it. When they pour the concrete have one side set up for a lift has to be atleast 18"
deep and also great way to heat it is the underground heat. After it is cured Paint it before you move anything in. Only time it will be empty to do it. Those are my regrets!

Still deciding on the heat but radiant floor is definitely on the list. The only thing I would have to decide is where I would put a lift so I can plan out the tubing. I had it built with 12' ceiling height so I have room with a lift.

Wont hurt to have it poured that deep on both sides where the hoist will have its footprint.
One thing i did do was run 2" conduit under the floor to the far side for outlets, saves a wire run.

Wish I had the ceiling spray foamed to help keep it hot in the winter and cooler in the summer.

That's real nice, man. You'll get some enjoyment out of that.

Nice shop, it will get full fast.
One thing I would do is get rid of some the trees around the building.
Those small trees will get big fast, 10 years from now they will be triple in size.

Include a floor drain.... at least a hydrant & sink... i also included a bathroom (because shop is aways away from the house) and a washer/dryer to do our outside clothes and keeps the grime out of the wife's appliances... just a thought.
