Hi guys im new to the site and i know im not an A body owner but i am a big Mopar fan, i have an 84 D50 pickup with 360/380hp crate engine 727 trans with air shifter, narrowed 9 inch ford coilovers 4.56 gear, best et 7.39 in 1/8th mile, my question is i want to upgrade my engine i was thinking of some different cylinder heads, what do you guys think about the brodix b1's?

Like BJR said..you have a crate engine. So what isnt it doing for you? Why change heads? Your suggestion of choice is WAY wrong for the rest of the engine as you describe it. A good package will alwyas run better than a killer set of heads on a stock lower end.

Johnny, the MoPar fan!!!!!!! Welcome aboard.

I will assume the 380/360 create engine is stock. From here, do realize that basicly, this create engine is a stock production engine with an intake, replacement pistons and a performance cam with valve springs to match it. That's it.

Now you know this is a basic, and very at that modest upgrade with lots of room to work with what you have. The very first place I would look to improve what you have in the horse power area is some head work. It is a very good testament to these heads in stock for that they allow the engine to make over 400 HP as they are. Cast stone stock.

What tube size headers and exhaust pipe are on the ride now?
How many accer.'s are on the engine? (Ex; A/C, P/S etc...)
Any mods to the OE create?

The Brodix heads are a bit more head than what would (More than likely) be OK for the engine as it sits now.

alt and water pump only, 1 7/8 primary tubes 3 inch exhaust dynomax muffler's turn down at rear end, im trying to get to 7.0's so i can run 7.0 heads up

BJR runs 1/8 miles. I'm not familar with the set ups of the short track. This is of major importance to the car. Were going to need to here about that as well.
However, .040 is a bit to chew down on suspension alone.
I would start with head porting.

What does your car weigh? What size tire do you run?(rear) What converter stall do you have? What do you have for a intake and carb? Do you want to run NOS or not? What octane fuel can you run? Do you want to do any other internal mods to the engine or just the heads? These are some things that have to be answered before we can help you more.

weight is around 2200 with me in it, 3500 stall, 4.56 rear gear, 31 inch tall tire, single plane intake, 750 holley DP mech secondaries, MSD ignition

You could use a shorter tire, and a looser converter as you need more stall when the car is light. The engine is down on power if you car is actually 2200 lbs. I would take the engine apart and find out whats going on inside, as the engine is only producing about 250 hp to the ground. We have a 318 thats in a car 400 lbs. heavier than yours and is a tenth faster, so there has to be something wrong with the engine and because it's a 360 it should be a good bit faster than us. I think that a good disassembly and re-machining of all parts is where you need to go now, as something is amiss.

Is that an actual weight or a guesstamate? That is aweful light My all tube frame 67 Sg cuda weighed 2315 without me in it.
