I need to replace my speedometer / odometer( odometer doesn’t work) on my 1971 Demon. I have a replacement and cable. Present speedometer ‘clicks’ and moves a lot. I also would like to get the factory AM/ FM radio out to have it repaired at ‘Retro Radio Repair’ in Elizabethtown PA.
I’m a ‘novice’ mechanic ( and a dentist!) I’d really love to try to do this myself this winter. Should I attempt or leave it to a pro?
And, it has an auto with B&M shifter ( ratchet). I DO have the original 4 speed but only the transmission. Should I change it back over to the 4 speed? ( leaving THAT) to a pro! Thoughts?

Welcome aboard! Nice car, if I were you ( and because you use your hands/fingers for a living) and I assume you can afford to pay someone to swap the trans I would not attempt yourself as usually you end up with scraped up knuckles and pinched fingers, do the smaller tinkering yourself and have fun with it, honestly I’ve spent many hours on my back under cars and trucks and can say I enjoyed NONE of it, the only thing worse is laying under a dash! Lol

:welcome: from :canada:

Sweet Demon!
Radio removal shouldn't be too difficult for a novice, but swapping out the transmission is a lot more complicated.

Welcome aboard!

This crew will help you through whatever it is you are trying to get to. Amazing brain trust of MOPAR.

Sweet ride. Bonus points for the sublime

Welcome to the site. I recently replaced the after market radio with a factory am-fm one. I removed the passenger bucket seat. Made life a lot easier laying on your back. When you get your changes made, bring it to Carlisle this year.
