Does nhra consider an aluminum fuel tank a cell? If you were to mount an aluminum fuel tank in the trunk, with the bottom of the tank extending below the trunk floor, will you need to construct a metal box around the exposed area? What about the venting of it, there will also be a battery in the trunk. I know that a rear firewall is necessary......:dontknow:

If you put a fire wall in to isolate the drivers area from the trunk NHRA allows you to use a plastic fuel cell without a box.

If you can't do a fire wall (hatchback cars can't) then the battery and fuel cell have to be in approved containment / containers.

My Dart has a rear firewall in it. So I could mount an aluminum fuel tank with the bottom of it below the trunk floor with no complaints from tech?

IIRC, the bottom of the tank must be protected, it can't hang bare naked below the car. It must have a shield.
