So I went to start the Dart Sport tonight to go to a car show and would not start. No spark confirmed and the FBO was not pulsing red while cranking just solid red. Unplugged/reseated the the ECU harness at the pickup at distributor and it fired right up. I had a similar issue like 5 years ago and after testing all the connections and the pickup then it had started with an different stock ECU and then was fine with the FBO ECU since.
Wonder where to go with this? Wiring harness replacement from distributor to ECU or the distributor pickup coil?
 
Stock ECU is case grounded, not sure about the FBO but worth a check to be sure its grounded well and check all your other grounds too.
 
I forgot to mention that I installed a ground wire few years back and cleaned up the FBO ECU ground as well.
 
I checked the wiring at the ECU for pins 4 and 5 coming from the distributor pickup and it's at 313 ohms and the pickup connector at the distributor is at 311 ohms.
 
Worst comes to worst- call Dana at FBO.
Her or her distributor builder will help you out. I just did the distributor and box / coil package on the Barracuda and really made a difference over HEI.
 
It might be as simple as loose/ corroded connectors. Pull them apart and inspect. I BELIEVE that the cylindrical connector terminals such as the ECU, the VR on 70/ later cars, and the dist. pickup connector is about the same dia. as a flat trailer connector.

You can I believe clean them with a .177 rifle bore brush. That is correct, .177, which is a rifle caliber same size as BB/ pellets.

As someone mentioned, the ECU MUST be grounded. Remove and inspect clean/ scrape around the firewall and ECU bolt holes, and remake using toothed "star" lock washers.

The dist pickup connector is especially vulnerable as it has no real current going through it. After cleaning, "work" the connectors in/ out several times to further scrub the terminals. It does not hurt, if you have it, to use some sort of electrical de-ox or other terminal protectant. First time I saw that was on a 79 Ford I had, as well as the Trucklite sealed tail lamp connectors.
 
I was thinking of a connector fault too. Check the plugs at the ignition module and distributor pick up for corrosion, damaged crimps, etc.
