Just thought I'd post a quick update. Amy & me had no summer this year. We spent every free minute working on the house. We've owned it for 6 yrs. and had held onto it as an investment. Being the housing market sucks, we decided to move out of our small Co-Op apartment and into the house. The house was empty for years and was recently rented to as friend whom was getting divorced. Needless to say, it was a shithole. And boy, did it need work, it hasn't been updated since the `70's. . But there was a hitch: I had my car out for an Easter parade, and that's it.... She sits in the garage with a dead battery (again...) as I type this. I promised my Wife I'd work on the house before I played with the car. After all, she let me have over a year to assemble it after it was painted, and I owed it to us to fix up the house now.
As far as it being "finished", it's ready to move into. I still have to replace the front door, build the deck, and put up a fence, but it's done inside. All that 1970's vibe is gone thank goodness..... :angry7:
**That's a set of Centerlines w/ Hoosiers in my living room **
Imagine covering that floor with carpet?
After is was polyurathaned it looked like glass. It's dulled a bit as it gassed-out.
Fast coat of paint and I can live with the paneling until I can afford to rip everything down to the studs. I have badly F`ed up plaster walls behind all that cheesy paneling. It all has to come out and get sheet rocked. Not now.
Adding the patio door was a good move. The amount of light that comes in now is awesome! But now I have a deck to build.
Yes, we have a pink bedroom. Leanna was busting my chops about it, but know what? My Wife not ONCE made a suggestion on detailing my car. The house is all her call. She wanted a pink bedroom, we have a pink bedroom. I'm cool with it.... 8)
This weekend we start carrying our stuff in and we'll officially be living in Queens Village as of this week. We should have our cable turned on by Tuesday so I'll be back. Our Co-Op in Bayside will get a quick fluff and it goes up for sale. Let's pray I'm not stuck with the 2 places for too long.....
Now, about that dirty, dead Barracuda in the garage.... maybe I can still catch a few nights out before we put away the toys for the winter. :angry7:
